the waves suck water in and when you sideslip the water traveling to the wave catches your board better and you go faster with it.

its not that advanced...when i was learning how to get on my board and as i have read about it and seen it before, and as the tendency was to the board getting sideways(if u straighten ur body, to look forward),i took advantage of that. The part where we have to keepp our mass centre the lower we could was the hardest xD, i used to get "descentered" i i bended my knees too much. but it was fairly easy to achieve. but getting to normal positioning to catch the wave, i find it harder.
