My name is Maria Eckersley. I’m a stay-at-home mom of six by day and a sleep-deprived graphic designer by night. My channel focuses on solutions that make life easier in three big areas: Home & Family, Graphic Design and Gospel Teaching. My ‘Home & Family’ videos will focus on simple and inexpensive ways to streamline the monotonous tasks of motherhood so you can be the fun mom you’ve always intended to be. The ‘Design’ videos will feature the products and printables I create in the late-night hours when my six kids are finally asleep. The ‘Teaching’ posts will be thoughts, lesson plans and object lessons drawn from my many years of teaching youth and adults in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
2 of my favorite verses in all of scripture! 47 Now they never had fought, yet they did not fear death; and they did think more upon the liberty of their fathers than they did upon their lives; yea, they had been taught by their mothers, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. 48 And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it.
Combine this with black skin meaning cursed and you get... "14 And it came to pass that those Lamanites who had united with the Nephites were numbered among the Nephites; 15 And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites;"
You can find the free printable and the video about how to assemble it on my site here: gather.meckmom.com/c/blog-posts/easy-access-to-the-free-oct-2024-mini-conference-book
Thank for your preparation and teaching. I agree with your observations about Elder Renlund and how some people completely missed the point. As well as Emily Belle Freeman and her testimony of Emma Smith. If all someone got from that talk is that they are missing out on God's power, then we need to humble ourselves and ask, how can we access MORE of God's power? When I was 17, I thought I had it all and knew it all. But then I grew up and now I look back and realize how limited my understanding was. I love President Hinckley's invitation to other churches (and should be to us as well) "Bring all you have, and God will add to that." More than we can imagine.
I could listen to you teach, all day! You have a gift, and it benefits my life, every single week. In your busy schedule, I appreciate the time and care you put into these messages.❤
I've used this diet Coke experiment in many situations. Kids love it! I will say, I had my classes experiment with the brands of diet cola. It needs to be cola and brand name works the best. (Not an add.) Off brand works well enough! Thanks for your great ideas!
Maria, Thank you so much for sharing your insights. I loved your reference to the windows of heaven and revelation. Like you, I also watched that video with the paster and his wife attending General Conference. I appreciate your voice and felt the same takeaway. ❤
Thank you for this question "What else am I missing?" It is one of those "Is it me?" kind of questions. Very profound and a good reminder about what is limiting my access to revelation and inspiration. Like the big black gorilla among the basketball players. I think I'm missing a lot more than I'm willing to admit.
Love the questions to ponder this week. I don't have answers but looking forward to ponder. Especially noticed the invitation Christ extends to touch his side and how much more personal and intimate that one by one experience must have been to touch his body near his heart in addition to his hands and feet. Your insights into the freshness of those wounds was great too.
As far as the believers being a threat, I think they were more of a reminder of their choices and what they once lived themselves (most likely in peace and joy). I would think they didn’t want to be reminded of their own fall. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing!
The principle of the wood and kindling waiting for the spark was very helpful for me this week. As well as these quotes: " Good stories happen to those who are willing to write them down ." "Miracles happen to those who open their eyes to see them ."
Maria, your messages of hope, encouragement, and gratitude resonate with me on so many levels. You see and feel deeply, and explain things in the most beautiful ways. Thank you for filling my cup every single week.❤️
Sorry about that! We had a glitch with the file that I needed to fix. It's up now. Here's the link: meckmom.etsy.com/listing/1795550651/nativity-shadow-box-book-of-mormon
How come Jared and company didn't follow the valiant example of Captain Moroni and his crew and the precept to stay and defend their faith, culture, and livelihood at any and all costs?! Do you think it would have been less about God providing brother of Jared revelation to leave if his family had more like-minded people to back them up in arranging such a front? Or is there a real precept here for us to draw from in finding an effective way to survive conflict and threats to our faith, culture, and livelihood by leaving and moving somewhere else away from conflict? How long did the fruits of this decision last?! How long did the fruits of the other example last?!
@@debralloyd-o6o You can find the link in the video description 👍 I put it up last night. If you can’t see it, try refreshing. Let me know if you have trouble.
Thank you for pointing out the word "unwearyingness" in Helaman 10:4 and 5. Where else do we hear that word? You have mentioned on occasion your own inspiring efforts to serve with unwearyingness. I believe the Lord expects us to push ourselves, but that effort does not go unnoticed by our Heavenly Father. The concept of work being its own reward is woven into the fabric of the plan of happiness. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in his book "Flow" wrote, “The best moments [in our lives] usually occur when a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.” I think Nephi was familiar with this eternal concept.
Another beautiful lesson, Maria. Your are a gifted teacher who never, ever disappoints. Thank you for your preparation and for being vulnerable and sharing so much of yourself. Have a wonderful day!❤️
Thank you I love this!! I am a primary teacher for 6-7 year age group and I am always looking for creative ideas to illustrate the restored gospel through object lessons for my children
Hi Maria! This is Jared again with Christian Homestead. Just one more time (I had already left a comment on an older video), I would love to give you access to a private spreadsheet I put together of all pro-church and anti-church channels on RU-vid. I've already given access to other channels like Scripture Central, Ward Radio, Called to Share, etc. I think it's really important to know where you fit into the big picture. This is meant to be a motivational tool to help us all keep up the good fight because unfortunately there are too many anti channels out there. Channels like yours is NEEDED! Please let me know either. I would appreciate it. Thank you!
