My name is Shane, and if you like fun, and everything from Metal to Punk to Deathcore this might just be the channel for you. Let’s have a laugh and some fun!
The Dumbstruck Fool Sez...seemingly a lot this week.... - Thin Lizzy's Thunder & Lightning concert: I have seen it but not for a very long time...I remember I deliberately sought out the footage after stumbling upon a 1984 interview with Duran Duran's John Taylor in which he stated he went to one of their shows on that tour and how he admired Phil Lynott's playing style. I am compelled to revisit it now - Thin Lizzy was a cornerstone of 1970's/early 1980's hard rock and very underrated in my opinion. I encourage anyone out there unfamiliar with them to explore a little bit...1976's Jailbreak album was/is epic. - All-time favorite concept album: I honestly do not have a whole lot in this column, but I am going with a true classic and that is The Who's Tommy. That deaf, dumb and blind kid sure played a mean pinball! As far as what you were referencing with your pick(s), I want to say you were alluding to King Diamond's Abigail and Them???? Maybe? - "Sharonnnnnn!!!!": I have mixed feelings on the Ozzy/Lemmy cartoon idea in that I find the Ozzy part of the equation hilarious, but the Lemmy part of it slightly disrespectful...maybe because he is not here to say anything about it. But what do I know? Hopefully Lemmy would find it hilarious, too...and I am going to assume his family gave their blessing?? - Tracy-with-two-I's Guns: I met him a few times and he signed a couple of things for me in the 80's (still have them!)...back then he was making markings that were supposed to be bullet holes and/or splatter from bullets. When I asked him about it ("What the hell is this???"), his response was, "That's so you know it's really me." Oh, OK....then you won't mind if the local authorities contact you if I turn up missing or...... - The Schenker brothers: Don't care, really, but the photo of Rudy with the piece looked an awful lot like Michael Des Barres. If you start to question whether or not you know who he is...believe me, YOU DO. His resume as a singer and actor is a hundred miles long. - Geoff Tate: If he WERE to go back to Queensyche, I would totally take Empire being performed in its entirety over Mindcrime any day. I know I am in a minority here and I suppose it also goes back to topic of concept albums. To this day Mindcrime has never grabbed me yet I still listen to Empire often. - Aliens and so forth: Your run on the topic almost started to sound like the plot synopsis of Ultraseven X, a 2007 installment of the Ultraman series and that I just started watching on Tubi. In an interesting and related tidbit, the opening theme of the show is a song called "Another Day Comes" and performed by Pay Money to My Pain, a band recently requested on the channel. They have degrees of separation from both hide and The GazettE....shut up, seriously....anyone interested can go back and read my comment on the clip. - Mike B's movie recommendation of The Wasp Woman: HELL YEAH, one of my faves! It pairs well with 1960's The Leech Woman for a deliciously bad double feature. And Mike, darling...not to pick apart your tag line, but shouldn't you pop the popcorn BEFORE you sit in your favorite chair??? Anyone else out there still a fan of Jiffy-Pop and getting excited over watching foil expanding?!?! - Mike B's jokes: You said you have never heard it but...you may or may not recall that You Can Tune a Guitar but You Can't Tuna Fish was the title of an REO Speedwagon album. It SPAWNED the hit Time For Me to Fly....aaaahhhhh....joke within a joke and Mike is CRINGING. - Land of the Lost: And again...HELL YEAH! All seasons are also available on Tubi. Rest in peace, Spencer "Rick Marshall" Milligan, who passed away this past April. "Uncle Jack" was lame...between him and Cha-Ka coming this-close to being fluent in English, I was snarking all over my Saturday morning cereal by Season 3.
Zodiac Mindwarp was originally formed by Zodiac (Mark Manning), Jimmy Cauty (The KLF, Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu and The Orb), Kid Chaos (Haggis aka Steven Harris) and Boom Boom Kaboomski (Jake Le Mesurier).
Yeah 25 ta life played with some big bands in late 90s before Rick ta life went completely loco..and you're right, ringworm is great great great shit. You should do one of their songs. So many to choose from, off top of my head id say acquiesce and first track off the scars album, can't remember the fuckin name.. word
You Shane. Are the Songbird of our generation and all generations. Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Barry Manilow and Elton John couldn’t hold a candle in the wind to you. Every dude wants to be you, and every chick wants to lay beside you… and listen to your Casio magic. Request: “Shane Diablo - Songbird (concert for the masses)” A special edit video of consisting of 10 of your finest opening song performances to watch and admire in one sitting. Now THAT, is the album Dreams are made of. I love you Songbird. Thank you for always making me smile.
Shane, please don't misunderstand our "ha ha's" on our sincere comment last week about you inspiring us to do our podcast. You, the comedian Orny Adams, and Dustin Hawkins from The Darkness were key players in that! Any crap, does Blabbermouth have quality control people that proof read their articles? Jeezus! And last but not least, your Lemmy imitation sounds kind of like Mickey the crotchety boxing trainer from Rocky. p.s. stay off the cigs and keep on jivin!
THANK YOU for calling out Blabbermouth as I cringe every week at their published text...I am an administrative assistant by trade and their sloppiness is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me....
Nah - they stopped performing it back in 76-77 anyhow - so it was gimmick back then with the bag pipes and all- they just didn't want to mess with it live as it never transfered well live - go find rare bootlegs of it and you'll understand why they stopped playing it.
Bride was pretty meh overall. I was listening to Tourniquet, MORTAL and Circle of Dust at the time. Bride was simply out of date when Rattlesnakes hit the science.
Who b carin? Wirlin verlin breakdancer froms Crestwood IL do. Ace b he favorites. He b ins love wit Aces. Dis b he breakdancein partner Chrispeter. Kiss #2. 🤘🃏🎸🍼🧃🚨👨❤️💋👨🕶️🤣🤣
Love me some old school frost, love me some current for frost in the form of Trypticon and while I'm at it let's sing some praises to the mighty Justin Broderick and godflesh
Can't help feeling it's actually rather soul-less, I appreciate that it's tight as fuck, but sounds so 'gridded' in the studio that it's metronomic/ robotic. Maybe that's the intention, not sure.
Seen them live twice. Met members both times. Great band, great guys. Fun fact, the lead guitarist,Rocky Grey, was also the touring drummer for Evenessence back in the “Bring me to Life” era.
Oh no not them again was a throwaway collection they put out of random crap they did throughout the 80s ok, the eponymous 1st l.p(79) aka My Beach (80; reissue) is classic as is the 2nd/final real album Locals Only (82). Dennis, Drew, Scott & John RIP. MOST underrated CA punkrock band ever. Im glad I got to meet Tony(harmonica on shoulder Hopper) once & Johnny Malibu, not too long ago. The Surf Punks are up there w/ the Dickies, Agent Orange, the Gears, Crowd etc. 🇺🇲🎼
About the title Evil. You should check out Danish band Evil. They had a short career from 1982-1985. Later reformed from 2007-2015 and again from 2017. Only original member today are drummer Freddie Wolf. I suggest you check out their song Evil's Message/Evil. Phenomenal guitars and drumming.
Resurrection Band, Rez Band, and Rez are all the same group. They are originally from Minnesota but have lived in Chicago since the 70s. So they have a real rock-blues feel to most of their music. Glen and Wendy are pastors as Jesus People, a Christian commune in Chicago. Stu Heis now pastors a small church in the Chicago suburbs. They were a precursor to bands like Stryker. They paved the way for them. Really good people.
Would it surprise or interest you that this band has covered X Japan’s Kurenai as well as hide’s solo song Dice on tribute albums??? 😺 I only know OF the tracks; I have not actually heard them (at least not yet) so I can’t comment on that. Symphonic metal is hit or miss for me but I thought this was pretty decent…mad skills for sure! Since you mentioned hide and his industrial vibe, I will again strongly encourage checking out Zilch, his side project with Ray McVeigh, Paul Raven, and Joey Castillo. I highly recommend the tracks Easy Jesus, Sold Some Attitude, and Hey Man So Long from their album 3.2.1. hide’s English pronunciation on the track Psyche is especially beautiful! ❤ And of course I will also reiterate that you cannot lose with anything by The GazettE. Period! 🤘
You know what's cool? This particular car was used in the ARCA racing series. Also, Falling In Reverse is sponsoring BJ Mcleod in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Indianapolis on July 20th!
Japanese Power Metal has it's own unique sound. Even before the vocals kick in I can normally say that this will be Japanese. Much like European Power Metal or US Power Metal have there own unique. I really loved this one. And will be checking out more from the band.
Going to see Ace tomorrow night in Decatur, IL. 🤘🤘I pray he's not drinking again- he's been sober quite some time. I hope I don't witness this tomorrow night!
