Can't help feeling it's actually rather soul-less, I appreciate that it's tight as fuck, but sounds so 'gridded' in the studio that it's metronomic/ robotic. Maybe that's the intention, not sure.
About the title Evil. You should check out Danish band Evil. They had a short career from 1982-1985. Later reformed from 2007-2015 and again from 2017. Only original member today are drummer Freddie Wolf. I suggest you check out their song Evil's Message/Evil. Phenomenal guitars and drumming.
Japanese Power Metal has it's own unique sound. Even before the vocals kick in I can normally say that this will be Japanese. Much like European Power Metal or US Power Metal have there own unique. I really loved this one. And will be checking out more from the band.
Would it surprise or interest you that this band has covered X Japan’s Kurenai as well as hide’s solo song Dice on tribute albums??? 😺 I only know OF the tracks; I have not actually heard them (at least not yet) so I can’t comment on that. Symphonic metal is hit or miss for me but I thought this was pretty decent…mad skills for sure! Since you mentioned hide and his industrial vibe, I will again strongly encourage checking out Zilch, his side project with Ray McVeigh, Paul Raven, and Joey Castillo. I highly recommend the tracks Easy Jesus, Sold Some Attitude, and Hey Man So Long from their album 3.2.1. hide’s English pronunciation on the track Psyche is especially beautiful! ❤ And of course I will also reiterate that you cannot lose with anything by The GazettE. Period! 🤘
