This is fantastic stuff. I think there’s a ton of value in learning escapes from pins that are already set, but it’s even better to not get there in the first place. And I understand why commenters bring up “it’s not about points” but even leaving that aside, this is just good BJJ technique. Thanks MG

I think the holding onto the belt, and using that as the frame will helpe tremendously.

I use do It when training and It Works a Lot, even against Black belts. In some cases the oponent holds my leg as soon as I hold his elbow and dificult my guard passage. Its a great move, simple and effective!!

I don't think people should be thinking about points when they're learning jiu jitsu. You should be learning how to stay alive and defend yourself.

It can be tailored to an individuals needs. When we have a competition coming it we focus of techniques for points. Somedays we focus of self defense. Luckily jiu jitsu can be switched pretty easily.

If this hasnt worked for you, heres what i have to say. Anything you learn on the internet about jiu jitsu or martial arts you have to focus on it and drill it to understand the minute nuisances of the tecnique. You might get lucky “trying” it but using it successfully in comp without practice… good luck.

I've just started playing around with x guard and this is quite helpful. I like to play spider guard a lot and this looks like a good progression of they stand Especially since I still have sleeve control from spider.
