The Jiu Jitsu program at Kyoshi Vernon Mason’s MMAA began in 2015 by Professor George Vancil, a life-long martial artist and active duty Navy Commander. George has trained Jiu Jitsu in 9 countries and at gyms across the United States. He’s shared the mats with Jiu Jitsu Legends, true American Warriors, and hard working individuals who see Jiu Jitsu as a means towards personal development - a way to build not only self confidence but also agility, mental resilience and self discipline. We focus first on self-defense but also explore the depths of the modern “game” to allow for individual expression of the Art and to be reflective of ones personality. We believe that every time a person steps on the mat to train the sophisticated Art of Jiu Jitsu they become keenly aware of their strengths, weaknesses, vulnerabilities, capabilities, and potential; and ultimately, through this constant self-assessment, they become humbled, their egos grow healthier and their sense of community and self, strengthens. This is what makes our program and MMAA so special. Our team is filled with great people, strong camaraderie and solid friendships because all are on the same path together, sharing in the struggle. And there’s always room for one more.
