I am about to lose my mind I can't figure my ski out, it is a 2002 Seadoo GTX DI after tons of issues I finally got it one day at the lake and the next time I went out it would not run, starts fine on trailer idles perfectly as well in water but in water when you run at full throttle it shuts off completely and can't restart it untill a few seconds later. if I try restarting it right away the engine won't spin. I'm thinking rectifier because I got a maint light for a few seconds but it went away when I checked on my Candoo Pro the top two codes were very high voltage. Also, Spark plugs Keep getting dry-fouled. If anyone has a clue about what's wrong, please let me know, I would appreciate it for my sanity.
@@SeadooRefurbmy fuel pressure is not holding at 27 psi when lanyard is installed and I can feel fuel being returned through the return lines, Did my Fuel Pressure Regulator Go Bad?
That is curious . I have never checked to see how hot they get on regular running. Is the rectifier mounted to the stainless steel battery holder ? That acts like a heat sink. If it is then I would guess the rectifier is going bad.
@@SeadooRefurb gotcha. Any idea what I should start with when it comes to the top speed? The wear ring looked to be fine. I couldn’t slide a credit card between the impeller and the ring itself. The impeller has a ding or two on it but nothing crazy.
Hi there. Great video! I've struggled to find anyone that can show me the compressor oil drain line but your video shows it well. Can you recall, roughly, what size I.D that pipe you clamped, is? I think someone has found the pipe lyng in the hull and connected it to the winterizing plug on the intake box, where you squirt the spray can down once a year.
Here in Washington state people are trying to sell 4-6 year old skis for almost new prices. Even the older skis seem to be fetching top dollar if they are in decent condition.
I am guessing they are trying to get their money back for overpaying at that time. Not sure why the older skis are getting top buck as they have totally dropped off here.
hi I congratulate you because you seem very strong in your field. I am contacting you because I have the same gtx di from 2004 and out of the water with the hose connected it works well and goes up to the maximum revs but as soon as I put it in water it does not exceed 4000 rpm could you help me?? I see your video from France, thank you
@@SeadooRefurb thank you for your response, it's very kind. The jet worked very well before, but once I started the jet ski with the water hose on and I went to buy gas and when I came back my father I had turned off the jet ski but not the water and since then it has been like that. I put a new injection ramp because I thought it was coming from my but no.
So I’m looking at a 97 seadoo gti the shaft that goes to the impeller is stripped am also needs a carbon seal do u think the pto is stripped and will need a motor pull an a new pto installed ? I need help deciding lmao
pto is easier to change with the engine in the machine. you will have to remove s spark plug and put some rope in the cylinder to stop the engine from rotating. then install a pto removal bit and a breaker bar and you should be able to remove it.
Pikasooooo I like ettt 🤌🏽 I been saving your videos because I got a 951 rxdi in a trade and I have no knowledge of anything seadoo! Watching your videos you make everything look to easy to work on 🤘🏽
Great video, I like your troubleshooting. I’m glad you figured it out. It seems like with all of these aftermarket replacement parts and even some of the oem parts a bunch of these skis would’ve been fixed on the first try but the parts are not very good and you end up chasing your tail until you get a good replacement part.
All of the Quantum Fuel pumps have lifetime warranties. I had the new model shown here in my DI and the silver extension broke or rather failed at the base. Quantum sent me a new one with just a little RMA work.
@@SeadooRefurb I would like to add. Thank- your for showing these pumps have a check valve which should be verified before installing. I knew one existed but thought in the fuel body and not in the pump.
@@SeadooRefurb I needed to replace both of my fuel pumps for my GTX DI (2001 and 2002). The 2001 was in a garage for 20 years and fuel turned to turpentine. The 2002 was used well and thus just wore out. I fixed a friends DI which how I got on the band wagon fuel pump as well. It is the first thing I check when not starting or performing badly.
Question sir my 2002 gtx di won't rev over 4750 rpm, It has 130 psi compression on both sides, 107 fuel pressure while running at high rpm, good air pressure, new fuel and air pressure regulators, a new fuel filter, reeds are good too, the throttle is working, the rectifier is good to my knowledge, wear ring and prop almost new, not flashing maint or any other codes. Do you have an idea of what's going on? I bought it not starting and got it running and I have this problem now and it's driving me crazy.
Just my two cents, That sounds like your RAVE valves are not opening Or long shot is your Water Valve on muffler is not closing. I would check the RAVE valve solenoid and make sure it is opening when commanded. At the same time, pull your RAVE valves and make sure they are clean and check the sealing ring. As a side check, un-connect the line from solenoid and blow 80 psi air into the tubes. You should hear them click open. I like to remove the cap while injecting air and spray soapy water. If you have a leak from the Sealing ring, You will see bubbles. Later. Hope this leads you into the correct direction.
Also thinking here, start your ski with the seats on, turn off and remove seats, If you smell even the slightest smell of EXHAUST. You could have an exhaust leak between the head pipe and the exhaust cone. This will reduce backpressure and cause loss of power depending on extent of leak.
@@grast5150 thank you for the help. I have one rave valve (PTO side) that leaks slightly but I open and close them with an air compressor while reving the engine and it makes no difference. Do you have any thoughts on that? the solenoid is working because it opens and closes them when shutting off the engine but I did confirm with a bore scope they are not opening when revving, I've tried adjusting the caps but no difference. BTW this issue is in water and on the trailer.
@addielb8086 I think your issue is RAVE related. I would replace both sealing rings, clean and try again. Once there is backpressure from ski in water. You need the RAVE to open or engine is limited due to back pressure. Could you also check spark on PTO cylinder? also check spark plug, is the PTO wet. Maybe you are running only on one cylinder? Don't think this but maybe spark is weak.
Great video, Question, had fuel spill over in fuel rail to air side which cause fuel wash in compressor and then failure of compressor. I am replacing all of the o-rings in the fuel injector, air injectors, and regulators. Any other suggestions?
lol, I bought a 1999 Seadoo GTI and the seller told me it worked great last year. The thing was so neglected. Bad rotary valve cover, water coming in, cracked cylinder cover, the whole fuel system was crap, air valve vents bad, axle bad, wear ring bad, all engine mounts bad... The list went on.... She's almost sea worthy, I just have to change the stator and regulator, which are bad, and I'll put her in the water.
I try to explain that to people who come by to buy a machine. I tell them that I have gone through every thing but they say they can get a better deal elsewhere. Then they contact me on how to fix their issues. :)
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks for taking the time to include so much detail. I bought a pair of DI's a few years ago and have made it my mission to learn how they work and get them back to good running condition. Currently they seem to be running great but one of them has a miss or studder of idle at about 2500 rpm. Runs great at higher rpm. I haven't been able to figure that one out yet.
When you put the crank in did you do anything to prep the cases besides clean them? Do I have to soak the crank in oil or put anything in the grooves where the seals sit or can I just set the crank into the case from the box?
@@matthewschroeter9045 You could put a light bead around them if you feel better about it. They are typically a tight seal so not required. The leaks occur between the crank and the seal and not the case and the seal.
@@matthewschroeter9045 I have not had any blow up as of yet. As long as you put them back together correctly and parts are in good shape then all should be good for years to come.
Hey Seadoo Refurb, late comment, but I have the same exact issue. I replaced the fuses and every time I hit the starter, the fuse blows. Any advice? Thank you
See if you can roll the engine over by hand from the pto . If you can the jump the solenoid to apply power to the starter to see if the engine rolls over. Then you will know what is going on.
Can you help me? i have a 1999 Sea doo GTI i replaced the stator i now have spark, and yes, im getting fuel, but it won't start. Did i do something wrong
Just curious, I have a 2001 GTX DI and my throttle cable snapped off at the lever. Do you have any advice/know-how on the best way to replace this cable?
It is not to bad a job to replace. You need to remove the cover on the steering and then you should have full access to remove and replace it. (Seadoo loves zip ties so there will be a bunch of them !
Nice video for all of us with older pwc. I have 2 questions, first how many oms you have on good rectifier and second how many volts i must have on multimeter connected to battery with good rectifier ( to charge battery)
I have had no luck in measuring ohms on these rectifiers. There seems to be very little difference from a good one to a bad one. Bat volts should be around 13v at idle and 13.5 ish at high idle.
I just bought one of these that the guy converted to an outboard, he sorrta fibreglassed over the hin number when they did it, I heard there's a hidden second one somewhere would you happen to know where it is?
I just replaced my vts motor on my 2000 rx and it only moves in one direction. I tried reversing the wires and it didn’t make a difference. Do you have any suggestions on what the issue may be?
When you say reversing the wires ...What do you mean ? If you directly apply power to the motor and then reverse the polarity does it move in both directions ? If so then the housing is the issue and not the motor. There are some electronic limit controls in there and they sometimes go bad . I have 3 different ones that will only go in one direction. Only fix is to replace the housing.
@@SeadooRefurb I tried switching the wires around since the buttons were reversed but it made no difference. I think you are correct about the housing because I checked it this morning and it doesn’t work at all now even with the new motor I installed last night. Any suggestions on where to find a new housing unit? Haven’t had much luck looking.
02 gtx di. Ski runs great np and has the double beep when putting the key on but the mode set buttons do not change anything on the tach. First few trips out it did work but just thought the button was going bad due to it being hard to change settings. Now it's just stuck on the compass. Put a new mode button in n still nothing? Would the rectifier cause the tach to not work or could the rectifier cause the battery to run down without being used. I got no maintenance light and ski runs fine?
Get ahold of us. Another shop here. We'll pay for the time. Thanks! Need some help with a 2002 rx di. Seriously. Not sure how to contact you or send contact info
My engine has what appears to be a fourth oil injection port? It is a brass fitting that looks identical to the other oil injection fittings but has no line going to it. It is located under the air compressor cylinder. Any thoughts on what this fitting is or what it is for? Should I be branching off a fourth oil line to it?
The brass fitting at the bottom underside of the air compressor is a vent. There is a very small diameter tube that hooks up to it and runs back to the 2 stroke oil fill cap area.
there is a metal coupler touching the carbon seal. it has to be pushed back 1/2” in order to get to a c clip that must be removed. them pull the shaft out.
