Some of the formula I used may be redundant in Revit 2025. I haven't investigated for myself yet buy I hear that the array formula allows for a result of 1 now in 2025. It would be a good idea though, you're right, to do some more videos on formulas generally. The 'why's' as you say. I'll put it on the list, thanks Brennan.
One day at a time man.. I hope you're keeping well... You alluded to something on Telegram last time.. drop in on Telegram when you've got the time bro
That takes care of the outside nicely! Any suggestions on doing the inside sill and frame? (I am referring to the wood parts sitting inside the window opening) Thanks in advance!
Thanks Nico. I'd call that the window board. I actually have my window boards inside the window family with an on / off parameter for visibility. I'll try knock out a short video on how to do that soon for you.
Thanks a lot for the great requested video! Very innovative solution for that until they implement color inside schedules I guess :D YOU R A LIFE SAVER!!!!! ❤
This is useful, thanks Thomas. I tried to use it to create a post-and-rail fencing detail line (dash-circle-dash). It came out too small and I gave up. If you have a minute and it's not too much for ya, could you make a tutorial for one plz.
Thanks Ivanna, I'll try get it done. I'm sure you're looking for it for your end of year project work. That could be a handy little family. Would you want the placement line to be centred on the posts, between the post and rail or on the outside of the rail?
A fair question Golbs. Well, there's nothing wrong with a dashed linestyle. However, I personally don't like how dashed lines or other line patterns look when made thick. They have rounded segment ends, I prefer the crisp square edges of this option. This is probably a secondary reason though. Lines don't hold information and so can't be tagged. A loadable detail family type can hold information and can be tagged. You still don't need this repeating detail for this though (see my earlier video on detail family lines). The other thing that this option allows is graphic overrides so you can add transparency for instance. Naturally you can use this family for many other purposes other than for membranes. Having said all of that if you still prefer to just use lines then that's fine, this is just an option for an improvement / enhancement.
Thank you very much that you made this video after my qustion about the scheduling. now i see that the main job is making a script in Dynamo. Unfortunatly that is not my strongest part in Revit. Could you share this script with all of us? That would be awesome! :) :)
Thank you very much! I had a question, I'm designing a hotel and it has 5 different type of rooms in seven floors. I want to create a schedule inside a legend of each floor that shows how many of room types exist in that plan, with filled color of their rooms beside them. I know it's a noob question but I'd be happy if you can make a video about it if you haven't already. once again thanks a lot. there are few people like you that shared revit tutorials with out beating around the bush and go straight to the point.
Thank you Danial. I appreciate that. I think that would be a good video to make, so I will. But, if I don't get it done in time for you then it's "Colour Schemes" you need to look into.
@@tg-at Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it! yeah I already did the coloring part, but having different room types and room numbers at the same time in it, is a challenge for me. I'll be very happy and can't wait for your video to have a full understanding of it.
I made that video, sorry it took so long, it's been a hectic few weeks. One thing I forgot for your scenario is the number of rooms per floor. Just filter your schedule by level for each floor (duplicate schedules). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-80NzRSo8B3Q.html
@@tg-at WOW thanks a lot! I haven't seen a good youtuber like you who remembers and tells me I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! words can't describe it man.
Maurice... that is a very good question. You have met the limitation of this trick... or have you? In short, you can't schedule this parameter. However, if you were to create a shared parameter for detail items and call it, say, "Detail Area". Then obviously create a project parameter from this shared parameter you will have an empty Detail Area Parameter. Now, if you could write a Dynamo script to find all detail items, find "Area" then populate "Detail Area" with that result.. then you'd be set. Perhaps I'll do a video on this when I get a chance.
Brilliant Tom!! Very important to note: If you want to model pipework and duct work in the Architectural model, and if you start a project with your standard Architectural Template you will run into problems immediately - why? Because you do not, by default, have pipe and duct connections loaded in an Architectural Template. Jeff "The Revit Kid" gives a great explanation and solution for this problem here in this video ru-vid.comZn4dVamOvKQ?si=RYEPp6ieKj8J8xHs&t=681 I employed this into the Architectural Project Template our 1st Year students use, Tom is demonstrating on this tutorial.
@@tg-at Yeah ... Right it's been a while . Because of busy schedule... But still watching your yt videos ... Whenever find time ... Thank you once again ...
