This is useful, thanks Thomas. I tried to use it to create a post-and-rail fencing detail line (dash-circle-dash). It came out too small and I gave up. If you have a minute and it's not too much for ya, could you make a tutorial for one plz.
Thanks Ivanna, I'll try get it done. I'm sure you're looking for it for your end of year project work. That could be a handy little family. Would you want the placement line to be centred on the posts, between the post and rail or on the outside of the rail?
Some of the formula I used may be redundant in Revit 2025. I haven't investigated for myself yet buy I hear that the array formula allows for a result of 1 now in 2025. It would be a good idea though, you're right, to do some more videos on formulas generally. The 'why's' as you say. I'll put it on the list, thanks Brennan.

A fair question Golbs. Well, there's nothing wrong with a dashed linestyle. However, I personally don't like how dashed lines or other line patterns look when made thick. They have rounded segment ends, I prefer the crisp square edges of this option. This is probably a secondary reason though. Lines don't hold information and so can't be tagged. A loadable detail family type can hold information and can be tagged. You still don't need this repeating detail for this though (see my earlier video on detail family lines). The other thing that this option allows is graphic overrides so you can add transparency for instance. Naturally you can use this family for many other purposes other than for membranes. Having said all of that if you still prefer to just use lines then that's fine, this is just an option for an improvement / enhancement.
