Hi Brilliant description. I have been using this for a while now, with no issues. However I added 3 entities, Fan High Fan Medium and Fan Low. These 3 entities are not being broadcast by HA and as such are not detected by Alexa. I have looked for the config/.storage/emulated_hue.ids file with Terminal and it does not exist. Any help would be gratefully received.
I'm watching this video 3 years later. I followed the steps but unfortunately it seems that Hue no longer links to Alexa if you don't have an active Hue Bridge.
@TechTechMoreTech - I picked up the HA Blue (my first HA) & eMMC module adapter combo off a eBay for less than $80 shipped. Can you suggest what USB toggle(s) to get please. It looks like only one Z-Wave & Zigbee combo USB toggle exists (HUSBZB-1, by Nortek) but per searches/research, it's an older device that is running older versions of both Z-Wave & Zigbee technology. I am considering getting: BSEED Zigbee 3.0 USB Bluetooth Gateway, Universal Zigbee USB Gateway for Home Assistant, but then would need to get a 2nd USB toggle for the Z-Wave. I did recently buy an ewelink Smart Zigbee Gateway Wi-Fi Gateway Wireless Smart Bridge that via an ethernet cable connects to my home network. Will HA be able to find that once I get it and connect it to my same home network? Thank you in advance.
Hello from 2024. You can no longer use an iPad as a Home Hub, it has been disabled in iOS 17 (and possibly beyond). This is no doubt Apple's way of selling more HomePods and Apple TVs.
FYI, users. I signed up for nabu casa through my home assistant menu and apparently config file editing is no longer required. Mine just worked as soon as I figured out where my url link was provided to me. Seems very cool so far. Can't tell I'm not local.
Thanks for the video! I successfully installed it but it works only with non philips hue lights. I configured my philips hue light in HA with ZA, they work well but they don't work with emulated hue. Sometimes they work for on/off commands only, some times they are unreacheble. Do you know how to fix this?
I've had a great experience with the Nanoleaf Essential Light Strip! They're super vibrant and add such a fun, customizable glow to any room. The setup was a breeze and I love playing around with all the colors and effects.
hi, the home icon still does not appear in the settings list anymore, so there is no way to toggle on the ipad as the hub. I also have a homepod mini. The mini always overrides the ipad, even if i am right next to the ipad and the homepod can barely hear me, and sometimes both don't even answer me. Any ideas? Thanks!
Asking the same question as some others... can this bulb cycle through various colours? There are conflicting responses everywhere online. The first 5 seconds of this video clearly demonstrate a cycling effect. Looking for a more user-friendly option to the govee product/app. Plus, I've had really good experiences with Kasa's other products.
I have an Apple homekit pod & love it although I would like to have some sort of a viewer that shows the live view of my Arlo Cameras is the Apple Home app shows. Is there a viewer that can be set up on a table that will show the display that is shown on Apple Home???
I don’t know if you can help me or not. I got a loop but I didn’t get an email about them discontinuing it so I’m stuck with it. When I upgraded my phone now my loop won’t let me push the button twice to automatically call my one contact. I have reset everything and did everything I’m supposed to, but it still won’t work. Do you have any suggestions?
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
Unfortunatelythis method doesn't work anymore... my setup should be fine as I can access the /api/pi/lights, but alexa won't detect any thing even if I select v1 hue and the Hue skill is looking for a hue device and won't enable the skill.
good tutorial, thanks for that. However after i logout and login, i see the original default theme, not the one i set up in profile before i did logout. Am I missing something? Thank you.
I have an A90J Sony, and its imposable to install the lights to the back because of that bump out. The strips don't bend at all. On my A80J it works perfcetly.
Hi there, Great Video. So you need Home Assistant to be able to create functions like Lights on/off, curtains open/close.I have just downloaded Home Assistant costing £5 despite me already having Smart Life, which currently controls all my Home Automation, of which, NFC does not recognize. What a waste of money (£5) that was. Half the Home Assistant instructions are in Chinese as well. Using a spare smart plug, Home Assistant did not hand-shake hands with it. As from my own experience, NFC is a total waste of time. I can't recommend NFC at all. I loved your video though. Thank you.
