Great, but that sound is intolerable--needlessly agressive. Stop overblowing and tune up. listen to more Phil Woods and absorb sound and intonation. The way you play you don't need to drive a nail thru the listener's head to get noticed! Maybe switch to tenor...

Tone is grating and intonation very poor. Pull mpce. and stop overblowing. Undeniably a great talent!

Love his playing. However he doesn’t have to travel at 100 mph. I Would like to enjoy more creativity which requires space. But he truly has the technique down. He will grow into his own style and sound.

As long as guys are throwing out sonic models, I'll include Sonny Stitt. He made more than 100 albums, staying with bebop, the songbook, and a beautiful "embodied" tone that remained consistent from tenor to alto. Check out 3 versions of "Stars Fell on Alabama": Cannon (from "In Chicago," with the Miles' sextet minus Miles); Phil Woods; Sonny Stitt. 3 versions of heaven.

I'm in no position as a fellow sax player to knock this guy, I am nowhere near his level, even if I was, I wouldn't knock him, people knocked John Coltrane silly, look what he did to jazz, also Charlie Parker etc etc

@oldhawk4123
@oldhawk4123 4 года назад
@Thouveninpascal
@Thouveninpascal Год назад

@SELMER1947
@SELMER1947 Год назад
