Muito bom ! Pegada forte! Vibração! Vitalidade ! Como se espera ( sempre) de um momento forte no Jazz ! Isso, ao vivo, e a cores, deve ser envolvente e maravilhoso!!! Nota mil! Só o bom JAZZ pode proporcionar momentos assim.
As long as guys are throwing out sonic models, I'll include Sonny Stitt. He made more than 100 albums, staying with bebop, the songbook, and a beautiful "embodied" tone that remained consistent from tenor to alto. Check out 3 versions of "Stars Fell on Alabama": Cannon (from "In Chicago," with the Miles' sextet minus Miles); Phil Woods; Sonny Stitt. 3 versions of heaven.
Cafiso is a great technician but the teen saxophonist that most impresses me is Grace Kelly. Its almost incomprehensible that someone so young is able to conjure such maturity on the horn. I used to think that in order to sound like the legends you had to pay your dues in jam sessions, practice 6 hours a day and live a somewhat seedy lifestyle. Kelly and Cafiso prove that prodigious talent will every now and then trump experience. Sadly, most of us must get there the old fashioned way!
OMG! 15, or not - he's way too young to able to play like that! What an incredible talent. Rockindude365, you are out to lunch! (I doubt that you wil ever come back.) Could we have more info on this group and the performance!?
@lasmach the ones that cant hate the ones that do :)....but theres actually a lot of great and innovative jazz in NYC still man...really you need to spend 1 full day here to see wat i mean.
tayoung- what are you talking about...? Cafiso is a total beast (plus this is 6 yrs ago. 15 years old) and Kelly is good, but just not in the same category at all. I think it's ridiculous how you could come the that opinion. Hopefully you are not a teacher.
Love his playing. However he doesn’t have to travel at 100 mph. I Would like to enjoy more creativity which requires space. But he truly has the technique down. He will grow into his own style and sound.
