That’s a magnificent sound…the best I heard for a while. The acoustics properties of this church give a finishing touch to an instrument that is already exceptionally good.
He is not forgotten really. I listen to his Works daily and he is my favorite Composer besides J.S.Bach. His Organ Music belongs to the Standard Canon.
The merit of the school of Lemmens and Widor is a very important organ reform in a time of musical decline. Yet Sietze de Vries has a strong and actually irrefutable point here. First learning to read notes and then learning to improvise is , properly speaking, not a good sequence. This scholastic method causes an organist without literature to sit awkwardly and empty-handed behind the keyboard. That is a decline. The comparison with learning a language seems very apt to me!
A beautiful piece gorgeously played. I can't tell if that music stand has the music on it, but memorized or not, she's great. And a designer neckerchief by Sonia Rykiel. Such taste! Chapeau bas.
This is totally amazing playing! He knows where every pedal and key are without looking, and the intensity of this work, certainly drove any bats out of the swell chambers! Thank you for posting! (from Canada)

Judging from the majority of the comments below, one wonders why anyone would even ATTEMPT to fit the vast complexity and sonorities of Bruckner's Second Symphony (which the composer intended be performed by a suitably large orchestra) into the very tight and limited confines of a single-player church organ - it's like hoping to fit an ocean liner inside one's modest-sized home - it simply can't be done. This noble performance by Hansjörg Albrecht, despite his demonstrably fine musicianship and deep appreciation for Bruckner's music, has regrettably earned him at best faint praise here, despite the fact that he clearly poured his heart and soul into it.
