These are great tips especially for those new to riding the subway. Know which direction you are going and make sure to get on the right train reminds me of my trip to Brooklyn decades ago, I was taking the 3 train from 14th st heading to Brooklyn but much to my shock ended up in the Bronx. This was due to taking the uptown 3 instead of the downtown 3. Too bad I had not noticed until I had been on the train close to 40 minutes !!!!! Live and learn! Thanks for all of the cool tips !!
Hiya GB😂….Yeah, THE NYC Subway 🚇 is da 💣!….People don’t show enuff luv for it, I still think it’s the single best thing ‘bout livin’ here-relatively safe, clean and reliable….But then again, I am (and remain) absolutely enamored ❤ by this city so I may be biased…There’s no place like home 🏠!
All of your advice is great! I moved from Seattle to New York 10 years ago. and I actually found that lining up appointments to view several apartments that I was interested in, within a week, and then actually booking a trip for that week to go to New York to view the apartments, I found to be more valuable than getting an agent! Because in New York you have to make rental decisions quickly anyways! That's just my personal experience.
Thank you for your channel! I lived in NYC most of my life, but moved to LA for a freelance job and ended up staying for 12 years. Never stopped dreaming of moving back. Finally made it happen 2 years ago. But it was a slog. So much of your situation rings true for me. SO glad I stuck it out and couldn't be happier. Did you see the documentary about Fran Lebowitz? In it she was counseling her niece who wanted to move here...when she could "afford it." "Stop right there," said Fran.."Nobody can 'afford' to live in NY. That's never why people want to live here." There are many other great reasons
Bittersweet moments rip at my heart strings. Transitions in life are more challenging to me now at age 67 than they were two (or five) decades ago. Time is the tyrant and it looms over me like a black cloud. I miss feeling carefree and lighthearted. Worry and caution have replaced those feelings. We prepare in less than a month to leave our Midwest home of 35 years and move south to a brand new home in a place where we know no one. I get tired of feeling terrified and pray the feeling of excitement will emerge once I’m there. You’re a wise woman Geraldine and if you have any words of advise you think might benefit me, I’d be grateful to hear them. Never having had children gave me a false sense of extended youthfulness and I think my mind and heart are now in a state of emergency trying to live in reality!
Your words really moved me. I’ve been sitting with them. “Time is the tyrant and it looms…” u feel like I could make an entire video just about this or maybe even another channel! I heard something recently that really stayed with me - “choose your regrets” this is so hard but having difficult conversations with ourselves and coming to terms with our life choices of accepting where we are. Like for me, a big regret is not leaning into a career earlier in life (though I tried many things), but what that choice afforded me is time with my kids. It stings when we wake up with regrets rather than being preemptive but it’s not too late to come to terms with difficult things. I truly believe that. And this healing process eventually allows us to seek out the things that will bring us Joy 🙏 May I ask, Why are you moving?
It’s not Manhattan, but I’ll keep my 750 sq ft Loft with private balcony and free parking space directly in front of my door in Tulsa for under $650/mo for now… 😅 great video, hope you find the one that makes you happy. ‘
I want to thank you for your videos. I lived in NYC in my 20s and 30s with my hubby. Loved it and I left when he got sick so I could stop working and take care of him, NYC was too expensive without a job. Anyway, now that I am your age I have been thinking of returning but I see little reminders in your videos that remind me that maybe NYC is for the young, long walks, subways and without a partner it can be lonely, so many things to do but nobody to do it with…anyhow it is just my feeling…if tomorrow I won the lottery I would buy a brownstone in the west village and get a car with a driver …so maybe is the $ or lack of that makes it seem not ok for this age…😢😮you enjoy that beautiful city and I know Hoboken, it is nice too…enjoy 😢😮
It’s a derivative of green tea and very popular! “a good source of antioxidants and having protective effects for bone and brain health.” And also can be very yummy.
There are so many places like this in Chiang Mai. Coffee shop capital of Thailand. Insane deserts too. You can follow the migration of the fish waffles back to is origins.
Wait the fishes have their origins in Chang Mai? I wouldn't be surprised - it is by far the most charming and cool towns ive ever been too....so long ago too. I can't wait to see how its evolved...how far are you from there?
Thrilled to be along for the ride! Saved this for the great tips, too! Can you tell me what kind of microphone you are using? I need to get one for my own new channel :)
Wow, super happy I found you tonight! I am your age & do photography as a hobby since I was a teen. I also started a youtube channel last year (Wyrd Woven) as a shamanic artist but might just start making whatever I feel like there as I have many other interests. Whatever camera and lens you are using here looks absolutely gorgeous!!! I am in the midst of huge changes also, will be watching your content with great interest and wishing you all the luck!
Hi there! ooooohhh I'm so intrigued! What is your channel about? Ive been really considering how to frame my channel to include many interests and still create a cohesive body of content. Its challenging. That thumbnail was from a fuji that I have since sold. I often shoot with my phone!
@@geraldinebien I started it about shamanic healing arts (which I practice personally and professionally for about 20 years) so stuff like moving meditation/qigong, shamanic journeying, shamanic drumming, shamanic reiki, storytelling, oracular divination of various kinds, etc. But I"m a spooky weirdo lady so it's mostly filmed like a silent movie, haha! But I am also super into dark avant garde, vintage and sustainable fashion, so I think about doing a channel for that instead. I haven't uploaded in over a year, I keep mulling it all over. I had a dream of doing YOutube for past 20 years!!! So it was thrilling to start it-but I am also a hugely introverted hermit, so it was equally terrifying, lol. You have such a unique circumstance of being bicoastal and adventurous and an artistic approach to it all! I really sense you will go far with this! :) I've been doing my videos with an iphone 12.
i am 62 now,. have lymphoma and for some reason my curly hair changed a lot, and i was still coloring it medium brown. come lockdown, i got my husband to shave my head - because why not? he shaves it every month with a six for hair clippers and i just love it. i've learned to tame it with gel, and fortunately i have a good shaped head, high cheekbones and olive skin. it's fun and different. you suit it and i absolutely understand what you mean by looking younger with grey hair - completely agree!! subscribed🥰 also.... that music !
Such great insight and mindfulness! And I always try to remind myself that my cringey moments are growth opportunities but admittedly it doesn’t always help. lol 🤪
I like Black Seed Bagels. I have tried Essa bagels from your list. I would love to see a young you vlog. I want to see pics and know your experience as a true New Yorker.
