I didn't know that other than television commercials, this BWIA L-1011 was featured in a scene of a movie as well. BWEE was the icons of top airlines around the world and it sure made it's mark with the representation of Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹 & by extension of region: The West Indies at large with International recognition.
Man, you could hear the pride of the people in the voice of the performer. Trinidad and Tobago was really a great nation in the 1990s and early 2000s. It breaks my heart to see what our people have become.
Hello @shaunrackal6149. Does anyone know who's the guy that sings this ad? His voice is also similar to the guy who sang an Angostura Bitters ad from in the 90s I think? I really love his voice.
My 1st trip to the Caribbean 1993 from Zürich to Tobago via Barbados, St. Lucia and Trinidad. Excellent service on board tasty meal friendly crew. The flight was 5 hours delayed. For this BWIA offered us an island tour and a Barbeceau on Bucco Reef. The flight back to Zürich from Tobago via Trinidad, Barbados and Antigua was on time flight time ANU - ZRH 7hrs 40 min
In the good old days I first flew BeeWee 707 from Piarco to London Heathrow it was magic. The Tri Star in this livery was classic and could be seen in London daily. Sadly the airline was run very badly and eventually became Caribbean Airlines which has never been in the same league as BWIA. Great video . Brings back so many memories.
I only stumbled across this ad last week and remembered it airing on local TV in Barbados during my childhood. I always thought the red cap guy to be cute, but I thought he was a Bajan. The ending of this song literally gave me goosebumps. What a powerful voice! Everything connects so well in the ad depicting excellent service to smile about, even when they are off-duty. Even the old BWIA logo is smiling! So creative. I really love it and keep replaying it. Talk about nostalgia!
An image that will forever be burned in my mind, getting to fly from Trinidad to Miami on BWIA’s 1st L1011 flight. Walking out of the terminal onto the tarmac before sunrise. Pitch black sky and a pristine aircraft all lit up. I was a wee little boy.
This jet was short but stout. I last flew on it to St.Lucia from Heathrow back in Dec 1994. I remember appreciating how big it was when we disembarked in the Caribbean.
