Thank you so much, this is exactly the info I needed to make the jump into using computer-made patterns instead of doing the whole duct-tape and saran wrap method.
This would be really good if you can do a roman helmet like that we have the spartan and the roman helmet, the most known helmet. Also it’s a great video
Anyone else struggling with their bracers? Mine feel like they’re suffocating my arms. My hand wearing the bracer starts twitching and I’m getting frustrated
Hi! Most of my patterns will give at least one completed measurement in the instruction section of the pattern. I try to give the measurement I think will be most helpful for sizing correctly.
If you are given a size of a completed item, like the length of a bracer, or the width of a chestplate, then you can use this calculation. Measure yourself to find out how long you'd like that measurement to be on your completed item, and do the calculation. Do keep in mind that this only scales the entire item, it won't make something thinner, or wider for example.
Most velcro will be stronger than 1mm foam. So some options: find very weak velcro, use only a very small amount of velcro, or always make point of unfastening by pulling directly on the velcro itself and not on the foam.
oic. Yes, for the underfoam you could do a thinner foam, just be sure when you are opening it that you pull apart the velcro rather than pulling the foam itself. @@markvo3137
@@letsmakegeekstuff4799 so then 1mm is fine then or 2 or more? also how do i know when to stop heating my foam? shouId i scaIe my bracers to be a bit wider for the inner foam and veIcro?
This method enlarges the entire pattern. If you want to change just one aspect you’ll have to do that by hand and it will require you to make changes to the entire pattern.
Thinner foam can be torn over time, but I have done the grommets/eyelets in 5mm foam and used bracers for years without any problem. I think one key is designing it in such a way that there is not a lot of stress on just a few eyelets. If you have a long line of them, it evens out the pull on each individual.
I love your design. It's the closest to the Bo Katan on screen. It will go really well with my husbands Mando cosplay. He actually subscribed to your channel last night after watching your video. his RU-vid channel is KIngNation86.
I love you your work im new to cosplay making. I find your videos easy to follow grade level instructions for those of us that need to rewatch 😅 for clarification 😊
😢 omg the emotions of the reveal. Super, Uber ultra cool. I think it's Beautiful looks amazing I'm pretty sure the camera does not give it its full honor. Thank you for sharing 🎉
Great pattern along with a super video. I am 68 an made one for my 6 yr. old granddaughter and she was over the moon. I think if I can do it anyone can.
Check out my video on painting 101. You should be able to paint your EVA foam to look orange, no problem. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yhQxeyhluNw.html
The approximate inside circumference of this helmet when printed at 100% is 60cm. The measure from the top corner of the eye hole to the tip of the side piece is 17cm. There are instructions on how to resize the helmet in the pattern. You can also watch my youtube vid "how to resize digital patterns" which walks you through the printing settings to make adjustments.
you are a life saver, building my mando and one part had remake few times is the boobs as didn't want to normal cup looking plates and liked Bo Katan chest plate better. You are a saint!
@@letsmakegeekstuff4799I only asked as your template looks almost identical (the T part section you stick the outer armour to is a bit more curved on yours) to the one I have from surfer dave on etsy, and I know he free hands all his templates
@@davidrose8920 it makes sense to me that two creators patterning the same piece would come up with very similar patterns. It shows that we are both good at what we do. As you look at my website and history in this space I’m sure it will give you confidence that I’m not just out here stealing other people’s work.
@@letsmakegeekstuff4799 I agree the finished piece would look very similar, as a maker my self with over 20 years experience in this area, its the way you get there that I would not expect to be similar, as we all have our own ways. 'Dave' has been creating within the mando space for over 15 years
