Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT and TEAM CBT based on the work of Dr. David Burns, author of 'Feeling Good, The New Mood Therapy'
Feeling Good Institute is on a mission to improve lives with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT, and TEAM-CBT that is super effective. As a therapy and training center, we have been transforming therapy to therapy that is warm, data-driven, effective in less time, and continuously improving since our founding in 2013. Today, more than 10,000 therapists have honed their skills at the institute and countless clients have learned lifelong skills for sustained recovery through online sessions and in person treatment. We offer online treatment in over 34 US States and throughout Canada and Israel, and have in person treatment centers in Silicon Valley/Mountain View, CA, and New York City.
This is the most pathetic excuse for an apology I've ever heard. Having listened to several of your presentations I've become very aware of the fact that you have extremely poor boundaries and clearly, can't stay in the professional lane but are constantly compelled to drive in the political lane as well, no metter how inappropriate.
I would love a video about what to do next when a client comes up with really a really close call at the end of the DML, still feeling hazy/torn/worried.
Hi there, thank you for responding to our video. I am thinking you mean a close call at the end of a decision making form. It can be pretty challenging with someone having very close numbers on the decision making form. When it comes to a difficult decision it is important a client uses the decision making forms multiple times throughout the week or months (depending on when they need to make the decision). The reason is because people's emotions are always shifting throughout the week or months and therefore can vary the results. I personally like to take the average of all the decision making form results. At the same time, it varies client to client because you can go multiple directions. For example, you can use a mood log to help them feel better about certain things which will shift their numbers on a decision making form. Another direction is you can do another decision making form on making a decision vs continuing to think about making a decision because sometimes maybe it is more advantageous to not make a decision at all. There are a lot of directions you could potentially go in. At the end of the day, it depends on where your patient is emotionally and where their resistance to change may be.
Hi Preetika, Thank you for your thoughtful question. The Self Defense and the Counter Attack technique can sound pretty similar. The key difference is that Self Defense is providing evidence against why the negative is wrong. With the Counter Attack, you are fighting back against the negative thought as if your negative thought is a bully and you are telling them to stop.

Thank you for your thoughtful response to the workshop! Glad you enjoyed the training on holding patients accountable while building warmth and connection.
Thank you for doing such a concise and clear video on hopelessness, it was very helpful in getting unstuck because hopelessness can be so contagious, and then both client and therapist are stuck in a state of hopelessness. having several panelists was helpful too, because I could get many different ways of getting to the same point. It was wonderful.
Thanks for putting up this interesting video, Richard and Indrani! Could you clarify if the evidence in the second column has to counter the evidence in the first column, or does the client write two independent sets of evidence for and against the NT? Further, how is this technique different from a regular CBA please? Regards
Hi there, great question! There are different ways of doing the Examine the Evidence technique. You can either write Independent sets of evidence, write evidence against the negative, or both. It is different from a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) because it goes into evidence about whether or not the thought is true or not. The CBA goes over the advantages and disadvantages of having the thought.
"Oh no what do I do now that I've led that down this road...", perfectly expressed. Thank you Mike, Maor and Jill. Just what I needed to listen to, at just the right time as a therapist. Keep up the great work. These insights are gold. Bravo.
Excellent demonstration of the Experimental technique! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I really enjoyed learning about the Daily Mood Journal and reviewing the positive feedback from his friends.
Excellent demo, super detailed!! And I loved the idea of doing a DML after the Decision-Making Form. Hadn't think about that... Thank you, Richard and Cai. Looking forward for the next one :)
I realize this is unrelated, however, I am having a good deal of trouble with my aunt. She is 88, lost her husband two years ago, and is a narcissist. I have a lot of trouble dealing with the nice/mean, gaslighting, etc. I am not used to being treated so poorly when trying to be helpful to her. I make an innocent comment, and somehow it gets twisted into a ten minute tirade. It's very toxic there. I threatened to leave, she tried to block me from leaving, tried to get my keys, etc. I finally got to leave, after being threatened with, " it's all your fault if I hurt myself..." I am at a loss here.
Hello, thank you for leaving a comment. We feel sad to hear that you are experiencing nice/mean, gaslighting, and being treated so poorly when trying to be helpful to your aunt. I can imagine a mix of emotions from anger to worry. If you are wanting help with this or wanting someone to hear you out more, please reach out to our free 15minute phone consultation here - feelinggoodca.clientsecure.me/request/service?clinicianId=919800 If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Awesome role-play. Love the 3 questions, they make Explain the Distortions much more powerful! Definitely going to use it. Looking forward for the next video!

This team cbt thing should be taught in elementary school. It really is revolutionary and amazing. It changed my life and I'll never stop singing its praises
This video with the technique helped me tremendously. I tried it out right after watching it and it helped me crush one of my most hypnotising beliefs (I’ll never be good enough in my work). I’m so thankful for the demonstration.
Another great demo, Richard and Kevin! 3 questions to ask: What are the errors in this thought? How does this thought hurt you? What do you imagine are the negative consequences if you continue to tell yourself this thought? Never seen it laid out this way before. Brilliant!
