Hi Everyone. My name is Niko and I am a British/Greek expat living and working in Beijing/China. I originally come from London/UK. In this channel you can expect to see many videos about my life in China, exploring this beautiful country, learning Chinese, barbershop reviews & all the good things about China & things that can improve.
have you found a market in Chengdu that sells branded t shirts and clothes from labels like Paul Smith, Carhartt and that. Not the brand lookalikies but out the back of the factory quality.
I’m in China and I’m facing the same choices - want to be back home but know life in the UK is too difficult right now. Love your honesty and your perspective. I’m a bit tied if foreigners running down the UK - so nice to hear someone saying what I feel, too.
I will have around 6 hours layover at Tianfu on my way to Xining in August. Since I am with my mom who is quite old, I was wondering if there is a place that we could pay to rest like a transit lounge or maybe sleeping pods? Thanks so much!
Gut Mao and Kerry Center, a big part of the CBD, are actually JUST inside the third ring, so it is between 2nd and 3rd ring roads, although the CCTV tower is across the road and just outside the 3rd ring road. Spent 5 wonderful years in Beijing (2000 - 2005). Happiest 5 years of my life. Come visit me in Shanghai we can do a VLOG together!
You didn't mention the cost. It costs me 4¥ in Shanghai to go 11 stops, which is 44p. In London, Ealing Broadway to Oxford Circus (11 stops) costs £3 off peak with an Oyster card or £6.70 if you pay cash. So at best, it is 7 times more expensive, at worst, 15 times more.
You're mirroring a lot of my thoughts. I guess we have a lot in common. I am from west London (Ealing) and live in China, returned January 2023 for the first time in 3 years. Horrified by the cost of everything. Glad I don't have to pay those prices every day. And appalled by the western media's misleading image of China. I am not a China apologist - there's stuff I hate about China too. But right now, I would much rather be in China than in the UK.
In China, if you use the Chinese version of map applications, such as Baidu Maps and Amap, you enter your destination and the map will instantly display your location in the subway.
My guy! Another brudda from London! I’m from Hackney and I’m moving to Chengdu in May. 😂bro you saved my life now I know I can still get a trim in China! Much love for the this video!
Based on official figures, deaths per day due to work-related accidents in USA is 13 but China is 75 (should be even higher because China govt always covering up). Any civilized country just couldn't accept such high casualties in exchange for pride of a political party.
Man I really appreciate your work. The information that I got from watching this video is so helpful. Could you please inform me about buying an apartment at the cheapest places here in chengdu or anywhere around 30000-50000$? I will be very thankful to you.
I went back to UK in 2022 as soon as Boris Johnson cancelled of the lockdown. It was my first time in 5 years so it was all great fun for the first couple of weeks. I was getting Greggs, Kebabs and drinking Irn-Bru. Seeing old friends and visiting all my old university and places I used to go. The novelty soon worn off and the thought of living back in UK crushed me. I mean I have always been on the ball with what US Federal Reserve was doing so I was expecting massive inflations, but it wasn't just the impending cost-of-living crisis, It was the degradation of infrastructure and how not a lot has changes. Motorway stayed the same size when there are now significantly more cars, pot holes everywhere. Streets are way more dirty than I remembered and a lot more homeless people. So off I went back to Hong Kong. Came 2023 March and China also opened back up so I took the plunge and did this massive 2500km trip covering Wuhan, Xian, Chengdu, Chongqing. The difference between UK and China was night and day. Super App, Robots, cheap and reliable transports, cheap food and accommodations. The living standard was just incredible and by the look of things the momentum forward is still there whereas UK felt like it's stagnating. So yeah, I can definitely understand you. You are not considering going back because you want to. You are considering because you have to.
Actually, I like the haircut overall. I think you should have taken the top a bit shorter so there is a somewhat less contrast with the sides and back (which I quite like). It's a very fresh look.
Hi. Well done and interesting Vlog. Can you provide contact information to rental representatives at the 218M tall North Tower building (and similar apartments for rent in Chengdu). Many thanks, and stay well!
