I need to build something for my son that is good and affordable. My son is a good musician. I didn't know the Zultan brand, your video sounds great. I'm going to give him the Tama Flyer kit and the Zultan cymbals. Are the drumheads the ones that come from the factory or should I change them?

I also have an S-Classix in ebony, but only the 10,12,14,22 kit. Ordered a 14x8 SQ2 Snare to go with the set, birch (heavy) with the ebony veneer. The S-Classix just sound glorious in my opinion. Awesome playing, man!
since the late 90's when the designer came out there has really been nowhere for sonor to go to better it. The SQ2 has a few more options but its not "better"
The Designers had specific thicknesses and sizes available, and i think Sonor used serious R&D to get there. Now you can get whatever you want, and it might suck😅
try the sq2 heavy beech shells in all drums; snare, toms, fl toms and bass...forget that SSmith crapy advise that said bigger toms =thiner shells...thick beech shells; the best of sonor...If still want maple, check the hilite
Ludwig prior to that but better than Sonor. Played a yamaha great. Sound as well. Didn't have that manny cymbal five total not counting 12 inch hihats or sock as we called them back then.
