I went in the store the other day in Costco to buy some Asprin, and one of the ingredients they put in it now is Aluminium.... Why would they do that that made me very mad these drug companies...
Hiii i wanted to ask how much ml is the little bottle because i am planning to make some using the same drops and everything. Pleaseee answer and thank you so much :)
How many milliliters is the little bottle that you are using. I'm trying to make a cologne with the same measurements but bigger so if i know how much is the little bottle maybe i can calculate it? Pleaseee and thank you ❤❤
I always thought that the optimal time to pick the nuts was when the inside of the nut was still in its milky, soft state. I have made Nocino this way using walnuts and its just amazing. Thanks, for your well presented video.
Have you ever done a video on how to make capsules? Not necessarily the actual making of them but what to put in and how much and what for. In what cases to use capsules I made the sleep tonic with valerian and lavender and hops and I had one dropperful. I thought I would never get over the taste. Lol
So you mentioned people who shouldnt use it (im assuming internal use) , does that rule also apply for topical use? Like would it dangerous topically for diabetics?
By "expamsive" herbs. do you mean muscilaginous herbs like Slippery Elm Bark for instance? Should these herbs not be made into tinctures and only taken dry or as an infusion or decoction? I'm just wondering.
Expansive (my definition after many years of experience) herbs absorb a lot of moisture, and then bulk up in the jar. So you use less of these once you know which ones do this. One of the reasons I just like the good old folk method (if not selling products).
You'll LOVE California poppy tincture, most likely. We have a massive masterclass on this herb inside the Confident Herbalist Tribe, where we dive into contraindications--and people who should be cautious. learn.healingharvesthomestead.com/store
Hello, can I use chili powder plus dried peppers and fresh ginger root to infuse the oil? Those are the things that I have in the kitchen at the moment.
Can you please tell me if there are two different types of Cayenne peppers? Thank you. I asked because I bought a packet and it's very spicy; my daughter gave me a packet and the colour is slightly darker and it's not spicy at all!
Hey, SkinnyDee! So, the peppers are in the Solanaceae family, and in this family are the Capsicum genus. Within the Capsicum genus, you'll find around 25 different species. Cayenne (Capsicum annuum) has a high amount of the chemical capsaicin, and this is why most herbal preparations for pain relief, soothing nerve pain, etc. are made with this species. The most common range of heat units are between 60K to 90K although there's a larger range than those. So, you'll need to know the species name of the pepper your daughter brought home. And then if you can, see if you can get the heat unit range. Most nurseries don't give you the Skoville heat unit range. You can purchase your cayenne powder from quality herb suppliers, like Starwest or Mountain Rose or Pacific Botanicals---they test the heat units for you so that you'll know what you're getting. If you grow your own, which I also recommend, you'll not really know for sure your heat unit range. But cayenne is just one of those peppers that works!
Great video Heidi. Thank you for your great work and hard work. I'm not sure if you listened but something is rubbing on your mic. Love you and what you do!!
@@HeidiVillegas I'm sorry I said anything because I figured you would know. I'm sorry for putting my two cents in. Tech is hard but you still do an amazing job!
Thanks Heidi for this great recipe and all the good information. The tea is beautiful!!! I want to make a cup and drink it right now - I´ve learned so much from you Heidi and I appreciate your teaching. Many blessings dear. Blessed Be )O(
Thank you so much for sharing. I have a question??? You said you dehydrate them in the dehydrator and then air dry.... So it looks like you dehydrate them whole.... Is it ok if I put them in the dehydrator whole??????????????? THANKS SO MUCH
Heidi, I took a course from Kami McBride on infusing oils. I don't know if you know Kami, but she has huge success with her infused oils not going "bad" with a wonderful secret. She let's her herbs soak in a small amount of alcohol for 8-12 hours before she adds the olive oil and she has never had any of her oil go bad. Example, 3 cups St. John's Wort, to 1 tablespoon of alcohol and then after 8 hours she adds 4 cups of olive oil. Her oil is gorgeous! You have taught me so much, I just thought I would pass this small bit of knowledge on to you. I have been doing it that way for years and my oil has never gone bad.
Here's a link to my process for the alcohol intermediary method, which isn't really a secret. It's been around for hundreds of years: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ajvs--kYSZ4.html ***IMPORTANT: All lipid oils will go bad eventually, and they have different shelf lives depending on the specific carrier. Even with alcohol used at the beginning, they have a shelf life. If you want a longer-lasting shelf stable infused oil, then choose jojoba as your carrier oil, because it has one of the the longest shelf stability.
A small bit won't hurt! Too much will separate. My little splash turned out to be just the right amount, LOL. Just wish I'd done it on purpose. But it's not necessary with this infused oil.
I have lots of comfrey too. What would consider to be the best time of year to harvest. Before blooming, I assume from looking at your dried plants. I regularly cut mine down in late July(I'm in Western Canada) and use it as a mulch to feed my plants, then it bounces back before freeze up really well. I made some salve a couple weeks ago but didn't know about the alcohol soak so I'd like to make another batch that's stronger. My first batch was shared in with my daughter and she's using on bandaid reaction on her daughter's knees so I'm not upset that my first batch was weaker. It's really helping the healing process from the nasty inflammation on her knees. My plants are just about to finish flowering and we are in a heat wave so I'm not really sure I'd get the best salve from the plants right now.
I’m in the Tribe and love it! I’ve watched several other herbalists over the past few years and I can say Heidi is by far the best teacher! So knowledgeable and patient and kind and has a wonderful way of teaching. I got some SJW from you guys this year and have my tincture going. Super excited for it to be ready. Also, can I just say Heidi I am loving your outfit, hair, and incredible background of your drying herbs, tinctures, bowls, etc. That’s a great look! Thanks for this video and for being an amazing teacher. So glad I found you. Misty Mulkey
Thank you Heidi. You are a great teacher. I just made my first St. John's Wort infused oil and also the tincture. Thank you also for suggesting to take out some of the plant matter if it isn't being covered by the oil or vodka.
Heidi. You're so sweet. Please keep in mind all the round up and pesticides. If you want to do this or any other medicinal concoctions, PLEASE grow your own or get from a local farmer that does not use chemicals. Kinda like using roses. Those valentine roses are a BIG NONO due to chemicals Blessings to all❤
