A comprehensive look at how I build different camp vehicles and test them in real life scenarios while testing world class gear in the field, cooking delicious meals and living a great life.
I build stuff all the time and I don't know jack. So when it doesn't turn out right I rip it apart and start over. I have the same trailer as that. It's 2000 lbs total gross weight. Mine weighs almost 500 pounds empty. I got 2by 6 's on floor over the metal cage. If I can find another one, I will try building a room on it. It looks like a lot of fun.
He is trying. He will have to build another one. After he's done with this, practice makes perfect! He will realize all his mistakes and do things different next time.
You will be rebuilding your floor in a few years, there's no way that insulation will stay dry, when you are going down the road in the rain, Forget about it! Lol . Sorry but that's my opinion.
That tarp won't last long. But it's better than nothing. I would have wrapped it in a couple of those tarps. Or better yet, paint wood and tarp on both sides of the floor.
Nice idea for a camper! I wish I had your skills and tools. Have you considered using that pink color 1" Foamular Insulation from Home Depot underneath your subfloor and side walls It's totally water proof and supports a lot of weight 4 X 8 sheets cost $30. It's light as a feather.
Great vid, im building a trailer close to this one, but I'm curious about the weight and pulling it with my jeep. It will be pretty minimalistic, a single cot, my small wood stove and a small counter is the idea. Well insulated, which is why I want to use 2x4s. Any updates on how it handles? Update '24: used 2x2s, diesel heater instead of wood stove. Marine windows instead of rv. Live edge counter top, running water, and outdoor shower. Auxiliary 110 power supply, main power is 12 volt. So much for simple lol but it's perfect! Survived the rockies💪
I've got the same trailer and plan on leaving ramp attached when I make similar camper. I'll use it as a mini patio with pipe flanges on it too screw short pipes for "patio" supports. Seen that on tailgate of a toy box hauler parked next to sidewalk on Rose Parade route years ago.
