nice Yard !!!! And Your trees look amazing !, im just curious if you had any issues with Spidermites ! I just planted some alberta dwarf Spruce trees and the Mites are just killing them im considering buying these but just want to know if they are ok dealing with mites ?
@@haroldedwards9906 thank you! Yes I have had spider mites, but I caught them early. I sprayed the trees with neem oil to kill them. Then I bought some type of herbicide to mix in water and pour around the roots. That got rid of them.
@@haroldedwards9906 I’ll tell you that these trees need lots of attention. Especially if you have as many as I do. I’m watching mine close so I don’t lose anymore. It’s definitely a journey.
They’re all 3 feet apart. There are two places where I put them 4 feet apart due to sprinkler heads being in the way. I need to make an update video. They’re all doing well and I’ve added a drip system for watering.
I absolutely despise the Braves and the chop is idiotic. But when the P0S MLB Commissioner moved the all star game based on propaganda lies, the Braves became my favorite team. When Braves won the series, it was karma on steroids and the biggest middle finger salute to the Commissioner. The post season games would bring in revenue of 10 all star games.
We planted 50 of them 4 weeks ago. They are all still looking good. Luckily I got a friend that's a human machine. Dig all the holes with a shuffle. I do use a soaker hose. Putting manure down tomorrow and covering the soaker hoses with mulch. They are still vulnerable. Hoping they all survive.
I’ll have to cross that bridge if I ever come too it. I don’t think the neighbor on the right with the hill will have an issue. The neighbor on the other side shouldn’t either as she never even comes out of the house…ever. So I actually didn’t out them right on the line, they’re about 1.5 ft off of it. Still a bit close. In hindsight, wish I had bright them in about 3-4 ft off the line.
@@BiggCope ohh ok, nah you should be good with that. It looked like they were centered right on the property line…1.5-2ft like you said on your side is good 👍. We just did 60 of the 5footers, what. A. Job.
Have you considered a DIY irrigation or soaker hose irrigation and maybe a timer? I’m in zone 7B. I just bought 30 arborvitae trees. I plan to use an auger. I’m still figuring out my irrigation plan. Please consider doing a video on straightening your tree once it’s been in the ground. Do you think the lightening of the tree is from less water?
Hi Lashell! Yes, I actually bought some soaker hoses last year and used them for a while, but didn't stay consistent. Like you suggested, I do plan on using some soaker hoses this year with a timer. I did that at one of my rentals to grow grass and it worked extremely well. I'll do a video of straightening the tree if I haven't already straightened it out. I'm not sure what the lightening of the tree is coming from. It's been fertilized and we haven't been having high heat for it to need a lot of water. I also amended the soil well with that one. I'll keep making videos so I can show the progress.
I didn’t dig the hole properly. The tag on the tree says twice as wide and twice as deep as the root ball. Well that’s a pretty big hole and I had to dig a lot of them. So I got slack on some of the holes. I also was knocking the dirt from the pot off of the tree, which I think was a mistake too. The tree was used to being in that soil and it drained well. So I now dig bigger and deeper holes, leave the soil from the pot on the roots and pour tree and shrub soil into the hole. If you’re only planting a few trees, it’s easier to dig the bigger holes. Yet when you have 52 to plant 😖….it’s a lot of work. Just wanted to share my story to help others.
@@BiggCope dang I didn’t do the same for the green giants I planted. I wonder if the size really matters. On the contrary I think you need to loosen the roots from the soil as much as possible.
Thank you. They’re not doing it in a lot of communities, there were only 3 communities at the time (early 2020) that were offering 4 side brick. No new construction is offering it now. They will do front side brick and the rest hardy plank.
Thank you. I really tried to dig bigger holes and fill them with tree and shrub soil to give the newer ones a better chance. I’ve also been fertilizing them on schedule as well.
Nice. These will give you privacy in your yard and even help a little with keeping the noise down. Consider extending your hedge between the houses for more privacy.
Thank you. I did consider bringing the trees further up between the houses. On the left side of the house the property line is too narrow, and that side is where I need it most. The other side is where I can do it, but want to think through if I really want them there. Plus that area doesn’t get as much sun.
So in case you weren’t warned??? deer will eat those things down to nothing??? Did they have an already come to try to attack them you’re probably lucky??? Maybe no deer in the area??? But for safekeeping I would put a dog on a leash??? or a sprinkler with a motion detector???? Any type motion detector alarm will scare them away also.... you did such a wonderful job I don’t want anything to happen to it??? I planted 200 of them and the deer NUBBED them all the way in 4 nights time???? The customer did not make me pay for them??? because I had warned the customer ahead of time😱😱😱the deer we’re going to come and eat them and they did😢😢😢 he replaced them with the Lawson cypress... good luck I’ll keep checking the site you need any help just let me know
Hi Bobby! Thanks for the reply. We actually have a lot of deer in our neighborhood and my property is actually where their path used to come though. Where we are located the deer don't usually eat conifers. Any other leafy green shrub or plant they will demolish. They destroyed my limelight hydrangeas last year. They haven't touched these arborvitaes.
Beautiful job, super straight!! These trees will be beautiful for you *and* your neighbors to enjoy. Keep them well hydrated with a soaker hose for the first few years & they'll probably be just fine. I'm going to finish my arborvitae border this spring. Well done!
