Your mother in law is a gem and so kind, I loved how she said it’s up to the next generation to choose where to hang things.
@nikkibrungard6293
Yes, please! A series on the portraits featuring you and Momma Montagu would be wonderful, Julie!
@hollyboardman1820
It was very helpful for me to learn that the First Earl of Sandwich, Edward Montegu, was born in 1625. I have been researching my family tree, and that fact helped me discover that the First Earl was my 2nd cousin 12 times removed. I am directly descended from the First Earl's great-grandfather, Edward Montegu (1485-1557). The First Earl of Sandwich was a contemporary of my immigrant ancestor, John Roades (1624-1701) who was the great-great grandson of Edward Montegu (1485-1557). I have been puzzling over exactly how our families are connected ever since I discovered the name Montegu on my family tree....

🇨🇦 I would like to see the series on the pictures with your mother-in-law and you Julie!! It is lovely you will have family members together in the same room, they are not forgotten.
@TRUTHisTRUTH70
We absolutely NEED a picture tour with your MIL doing the narration!
@eddie97504
“Her dress is much better than her face.” Classic! Nice to see the Countess 😄. YES on a series about the newly arrived portraits👏.
@beccabonk1
I was excited to watch this and learn about the "500 Year Old LOST ROYAL Painting has returned to the Manor!" I didn't hear this mentioned in the video. Am I missing something? Thank you!
@silvijaragis
Can you confirm if the portrait has had some serious overpainting at some point, perhaps to cover damage like the paint in the face area getting skinned from a previous overenthusiastic cleaning? The dress (minus the collar and the prayerbook) seems to be the only part that looks 'right', and it seems faded out, skinned, as well, though it's hard to tell from a RU-vid video. Otherwise the unfortunate lady looks strangely like an Edward Gorey illustration (especially if you remember the PBS Masterpiece Mysteries series which featured his art).
@darant2249
Love your mother in law! Her candor is much appreciated. ❤🎉
@MichelleJonesKralka
Yes yes yes to the video on the Hinchingbrooke paintings with your MIL!!! 👏🏻👏🏻
@melissaphillips3088
Your mother-in-law is a treasure Julie. She is funny with a great sense of humor. 😂
@AvaT42
That was fascinating about the Montagues and Charles 2nd. I love the little boys painting, I am happy he will be near his dad.
@jfeeney1001
Julie, you need a Baumgartner Restoration RU-vid collaboration on the painting of the first Earl’s mother. The face looks retouched. Baumgartner X-ray of the painting would be really interesting to see if the painting has been altered or repaired over 400 years.
@ellebelle8515
The 500 year old painting of the mother of the first Earl of Sandwich is such an important piece of history, plus a terrifically interesting conversation piece.
@thomasoates5294
I love it when the Earl & Countess come on camera they are so enjoyable to listen to and hear their stories....Have so much respect for them
@wesleyc1694
Absolutely… painting history is so interesting
@janetveres3316
What a lovely looking wee boy in that portrait. I’ve just been given perhaps the only photo of my great uncle who died at age seven about 1918. I almost feel as though I have been given a responsibility to make sure he is remembered.
@janetdoten4489
So glad that you are sharing all these paintings that have survived all these years! Love it!
@CarolSilliman
Julie, you and your MIL are so sweet together. Very genuine. Loved the episode!!
