The modern airgun (air rifle) is evolving at a rapid pace and this EPIC evolution is celebrated in the grandest style at the Rocky Mountain Airgun Challenge international airgun shooting competition!
At the Rocky Mountain Airgun Challenge (RMAC), hundreds of competition shooters from around the world come together for a grueling week of fierce battle, slugging it out for WELL over $100,000 in cash, and high-dollar prizes. However, despite the high level of competitiveness, the culture & energy at RMAC is one of kind-spiritedness & professionalism. This is an event where Pro-Shooters and RMAC staffers alike, welcome newer shooters... assisting them in safety, learning, and fun every step of the way.
The week consists of practice + several qualifying & elimination rounds for "Sportsman" shooters (the newer folks) and "Pro Class" shooters (the highly practiced & factory-backed folk and industry people). The main events consist of the 100 Yard Benchrest Pro Class, the 100 Yard Benchrest Sportsman, the Precision Marksman Challenge - Pro Class (similar to NRL/PRS), the Precision Marksman Challenge - Sportsman (also similar to NRL/PRS), the Speed Challenge - Pro Class, the Speed Challenge - Sportsman, and Big Bore.
Across these events, participants are accurately shooting modern airguns and air rifles out to distances of up to 300 yards (yes, you read that correctly) with plenty of 25 - 100 yard airgun pellet & airgun slug shooting in between. In essence, the 100 yard benchrest is a "pellet only" event and the Precision Marksman Challenge obstacle course events are airgun pellet or slug approved... shooter's choice. In the Big Bore Airgun Competitions, heavy air rifle slugs are what are most commonly used.
Airgun calibers observed most often at the Rocky Mountain Airgun Challenge are .22 cal, .25 cal, and .30 cal. The Big Bore Events see airgun calibers in the .357 to .72 range, and everything in between. The airgun power levels observed are most commonly in the 50 - 500 fpe range (yes, also not a typo).
