Enjoyed your video. We just purchased a 2003 Monaco Windsor. We haven’t taken our first trip yet. So many things to learn. I love the basement storage with the slide out trays. Our old bumper pull had very little outside storage. Safe travels.
You are very brave. We had our Winnebago Class A for almost 3 years and definitely loved traveling. We only have 2 kids and did not renovate. However, travel days, we did stop. Our kids were not allowed out of their seats because of my anxiety. We found harness boosters for up to 65 pound kiddos that could be looped through the lap belt. They stayed in their seats the entire time. Unless it was a true emergency we did not get out of the seats while driving. It freaked me out way too much. I understand the benefit and each family must make that decision for themselves. We got out of our seats while moving maybe twice in nearly 3 years. Enjoy your class A. It's a great option for families.
@@LoftisPartyofSix Here they are . Our kiddos were within the weight limit most of the time we traveled and the straps were taller than most. We took off the cup holders and put them side by side at the table facing forward. We would get an open bin that we used a bungee cord to tie down for snacks and drinks while we traveled. amzn.to/2XYXqRX
Fun, light, informative -- just the right mix. Appreciate you leading the way. We're in a travel trailer and within the next 2-3 years we'll be retired and seriously considering a Class A.
I like what you did with your cabin TV. We're installing a projector and turning the TV hole into a cabinet. The motorized screen will come down over the window behind the passenger seat.
My Gas Motorhome didn't have an Air compressor, that is an awesome feature to have! When I watched your previous videos with toting the generator out, that did help make my mind up to only buy Motorhomes. 😊 I like having the switch inside for the generator as well. You guys rock, and yes your guy's sense of humor is a big part of that. 😁
When buying a used coach , all the bugs have been gotten out. So you I think are getting the better deal. May I make a suggestion about your jeep. I'm sure you probably thought about it but i wanted to say also. Always , always pack a small Survival case for your jeep. For those times you travel onto the outback, you never know what could come up. You have small children , snacks and water, some of those space blankets , they pack so small. Dont know if you had a wench on the jeep carry a long strap . You can attach one end to a tree or sometime and wrap the strap around the tire a few times and as the tire spends it will wrap up on the tire pulling you out. And maybe a small fold up Shovel. As you travel more you'll think of other things to put in your Survival case. Dont be caught off guard -
Thanks so much for the more in-depth video. I’m a single mom with 3 kids considering doing this and you have been so helpful. You, Lane and the kids be safe and be blessed.❤️
Beauties over 50 Carefully check your projected operation costs. These class A are wonderfull. We have owned two the past 20 years. I assure you. You need an unlimited bank roll. $$2,000 goes very fast. $10,000 a year for starts Big fast depreciation Do lots of research Honest research Its a very big Liability
Cotton top here . Loved your video so thank you and your wife so much. I'm hoping to get out on the road soon with my wife. Your wife sounds like she is from the South and me being from Alabama it did sound somewhat normal lol. Loved your children and I can only guess that this make your family very close and being able to share all the special times together. You and your family is a Blessing to me and my wife. God Bless your family thanks so much Jeff
Thank you so much Jeff!! She ain’t from the south except for Southern Missouri 😉! Our ancestors came from Tennessee and Kentucky so their accents came too. Glad your enjoying our videos! God Bless y’all too!!
@@LoftisPartyofSix If ever you need help I'm good at electrical, computers, drones, and solar power for a few things. I can only guess it will be 6 to 7 months before my wife and I are out on the road. This will be all new for us so don't know what to expect. I have been watching all the youtube videos I can find to try to understand. My wife's people live in Washington state so we will be going all over the place. I now live about 57 miles from the Tiffin plant here in Alabama. So I will try to get a Tiffin but I have been looking at that Veranda 600 sweet having an outside porch but again 2008 or 2009 model . I really want to get tag axles 42' to 45' . Thinking used maybe 3 to 4 years old again think the older ones might be better built. I just don't know for now to may options lol. Thanks for your reply God Bless you all or around here Yall .
Great decision on the diesel and update. We had an 04 Winnebago with the basement a/c as well. Quieter but slower to cool, very expensive to work on as well. I'm not sure if they still use them anymore. Like you said in your last video the residential frig will be difficult to boondock with the 3 batteries. You may have to go lithium and hit the generator in the am and PM for a couple of hours. Or, go back with the propane frig. Best of luck in your adventures.
After driving a truck for 42 years I wanted a Motorhome, bought a 40' Monaco with a 400 Cummins engine! I LOVE IT! Don't settle for less than a Diesel Pusher! "ON THE ROAD AGAIN"! But NO MORE DOT ! Gotta love it!
AMEN!!! There's nothing like a Class A! And you right on the Used RVs. Ours is a 2007 Sun Voyager. The newer ones have so many issues. The used ones can have problems also. But less issues. My husband won't buy any vehicle or RV new. He says " let someone else get all the bugs worked out". Lol. I'm like Laine. I prop my feet upon the dash. And put a movie in my travel player with headphones and relax. We never stop for food at a restaurant. We make sandwiches and other things. Did you figure out the refrigerator issue about boondocking? I told Laine to contact RV Love. They have a big RU-vid channel. And are very sweet couple and very helpful. They wrote a book on Fulltime Rv'ing.
We’ve never owned a fifth wheel or trailer type RV, but man, with pets or kids, the class A or C seem like the way to go. We bought our Dutchstar used too, and I did spend a chunk on a rebuild of the Cummins engine, but even so, the savings over new was huge. Thanks for the video.
I like how you gave a honest comparison of the class a and the 5th wheel, you didn't bash the 5th wheel just because you have a class a. There are RU-vid RVers that just bash whatever they don't have. Hats off to you bro good job!!!!
Thank you for noticing! We loved our 5th wheel but our needs changed. To each their own in RV living! Whatever you can do to make it work best for you should be fine by all RVers!
We've been inspired by you guys. We're also a party of 6 and just last month bought a 40' Alfa pusher to head out on the road full time this winter. Hopefully our roads will cross!
Just an FYI because a MH camper next to me once had this happen. He was running the generator because we had a power outage for days as a substation blew. He was running his generator to keep the batteries up. So he was fat dumb and happy with the genset running and they were living normally. Turns out there was a "safety" feature that turned off the genset when the fuel tank got to one quarter. That reserve was so the MH would run to get more fuel if necessary. With everything on and also not known to him, the starting batteries were in the loop to the inverter, a switch setting. No genset and the batteries drained overnight. Luckily I was able to power him from my generators, paralleled Honda EU2000i's. Got him charged enough to start so he packed up and went and got fuel so he could run the genset. So you may want to check that out on yours. Fuel cutoff and or putting the starting batteries in the inverter loop.
Yes when I bought this MH the owner warned me of that feature. However I forgot about it in our Devils Tower vlog and thought something was wrong.. then seen my gauge and remembered 😆
COTTEN TOPS !!! LOL Don't mind at all. We can't wait to get our Class A and Mama's Jeep Wrangler!! Hubby might want to look in the mirror his gray is coming in mighty fine also. lol Love you guys!! Stay safe and God Bless !!
The generator fuel pick up is 1/2 the way up the fuel tank so you don’t run the tank empty and leave you stranded while boondocking The down side of it being a mechanical shut off ( runs out of fuel) instead of a electronic shut off is diesel motors no matter the size don’t like being run empty, it takes forever to restart. So when your traveling through warm areas running the generator to cool the coach remember to shut it down at a 1/2 tank till empty so you don’t run it dry. FYI
Thank you.. the previous owner told me that it would shut my generator down at 1/4 tank so that it wouldn’t run me out. Either way I’m watching our fuel levels. Thanks
Storage we hired a massive skip, went through our loft, garage, garden shed threw so much stuff away. The paperwork alone was a nightmare lol . Captain on the Bridge yes my Hubs is into scifi. Having the Camera as we have in our car is safe and you csn see what you are doing x. Great to see you have it how you want it. Your RV takes a lot of weight underneath which is great x Keep safe and well. Love from England x❤❤❤❤❤❤xx
Wow no wonder you chose this class A it really looks amazing with all the storage and how so many things are now easier for you, which is great news as who wants to do it the harder way! Love it, love you guys and love your vlogs. xx
I agree 😁!! It’s probably some people I blocked from being able to leave comments. I have a strict rude and inappropriate comments rule..1 strike and your out 😎😁
I stumbled upon a few of your videos and I absolutely love your family and what you are doing! I feel like God led me directly to your videos! My husband and I are empty nesters and I have felt God tugging on my heart to simplify our life. We are in escrow to sell our home in CA and moving to AZ so that we can pay cash for a smaller home. We are also upgrading our motorhome and I'm looking at a 2005 Itasco Meridian diesel pusher. I love all your helpful information - thank you! I am so impressed by what you are doing for the good of your family. God bless you all!
So happy God lead ya to our channel! I pray we can encourage y’all during this time of transition! Gods plans are so big and good for us if we will just get out of his way and let him lead! Thank you!!
Perfect! So much valuable information I love it. I was cracking up just a bit because of how many times "youns'" was said 🤣😂 never in my life heard someone refer "you guys" like that.. love y'all so much and always God Bless!!
😆 yes we get asked a lot what are we saying. It’s actually Yuns, that spelling makes it a little more hillbilly 😆. In all my replies I always do “y’all” because it’s easier for people instead of Yuns!
Maybe because the content didn't match the title. I was over 5 minutes into the video and I never hear anything about expenses and that's what I clicked on the video for.
I found lot of class A diesels with cummins 5.9 late 90's to early 2000s for less then $18k with 30-40k miles on them . The good part about those is no emissions which has destroyed the reliability of diesel engines anything newer then 2010 stay away from. The older cummins engines tons of aftermarket parts for easy to fix them. Since I like to tinker with engines no problem doing all my own repairs.
@@LoftisPartyofSix Reading the RV forums I guess CAT quit making the engines for newer RV's due to the Emission requirement cummins still does. I agree used RV save so much money the deprecation is amazing new can be $150k in 10 years lose 75% or more value. I don't know about the cost of repairing CAT vr Cummins I do know diesels like to blow head gaskets. Low miles RV with a diesel means it sat most of it's life on he side of some yard diesel left in tanks for long periods of time can lead to fungus growing in the tanks since fuel today has less sulfur less stable then it once was.
You are so dang cute laine! Love y’alls channel. It’s such a breath of fresh air in today’s world. Thank you for sharing it with us. God Bless you beautiful family.
That was a great price! I have friends who just bought a class A that is 25 yrs old for 40 thousand.. it’s also a diesel pusher and has 80 thousand miles on it.. yours is much nicer.
LPO6 you guys rock! My party of 5 hopes to hit the road in 3 and your Jeep solution solves a problem for us. Not a mechanic guy and have some concern about buying a used DP. Rob
Thank you! I’m no mechanic guy either.. but think about this.. most used Class As are owned by wealthy older people who take care of their stuff. They do the regular maintenance, etc! And most don’t put very many miles on them compared to autos.. and diesels are made to last 500k-1mill miles. So it’s easy to find a good well maintained Class A that should last a long time!
Definitely leaning toward the class A ! Just not excited for pull camper for same reasons y'all had!!! Except our kids are now our 2 dogs! We want to make traveling more comfortable for them and US! One huge concern I have with a class A is repair expense and road side assistance! I know you guys are just getting started but what is you plan for break downs ? You seem very mechanically minded Are you able to make repairs? Are repair costs exuberant on these diesels and do you have an extended type warranty ? Thanks 😊😊 happy travels ... Love your channel !!
That’s something I’m not sure about yet. I’m praying we have to issues! But I’ve heard it is expensive, however even the diesel 1 ton truck we had before was also expensive. So an emergency fund is what we have for issues.
Loftis Party of Six - weROAM thanks ! Best of luck and safe travels ... Unfortunately we have not had good luck with vehicles it seems ! We do all the maintenance and upkeep and STILL have had horrible luck having major $$ issues that don't happen to most 😳😳 only thing making me nervous ! PRAYING a lot on what avenue to take. Looking for your next adventure ...
Cotton Tops Ehhhhh ! violins and wine become better with age, just like to remind you young Lady. Good vid guys and the problems of sorting a big family out.
Michael Thanks for the tour of your beautiful Class A Coach . Love all the awnings & features that it has . Are all the awnings manual or motorized ? Love your parents beautiful home & the setting where it's located . Does your parents have any animals ? Happy trails & safe journeys always & keep the rubber on the road between the lanes . Cheers guys !
Hope some day soon you will come down to my area on the west coast of Florida by the Gulf of Mexico so I can meet ya'll & get to know ya's & hang out a while . Cheers !!
The main awning is motorized but the ones over the windows are all manual. We actually filmed this at our friends place in Colorado. Are next video will be us leaving MO for CO. Yes we plan to be back to the beach again so hopefully we will see ya!
@@LoftisPartyofSix Thanks for your reply . OK I hope to see ya also . North of me on US - 19 in Port Richey there is a WALMART behind McDonalds where I can meet up with you like I did awhile back when Ageil Vrapi & his family from When in Rome travels were in my area . They parked their Class A coach in the parking lot , detached their little Fiat tow car & from there we went to a place for lunch .
Great video! thank you for sharing it! Oh man....when you came to CO, did you go to Ouray, by chance? Or, are you coming back? My wife and I are in the early motorhome searching phase. We are still trying to decide Class A vs Class C. We'll be doing 1-2 month trips, so my gut feeling is a Class A would be best with the extra underneath storage. Also, I think I'd rather get a diesel vs gas. However, with the price of those, I'd end up getting something like you guys got. How has your rig worked for you guys now that it has been basically a year?
We love our used RV. There are a lot of gently used Class As out there previously owned by retired people who are meticulous about maintenance so find ya a one owner rig and I’m sure it will be a great reliable RV. We hope to return to CO very soon and Ouray is on my list of stops in the Jeep! Thanks
Hey guys, can U help me out, I've watched all of ur videos and I've been trying to find the one of where y'all were joined with like 2 or 3 other families, and y'all had ice cream at the end of the video, I wanted to go watch those families channels but I can't find that video to get the links, Thanks for ur help The Loftis family is my favorite rv family, I can't wait till y'all get more videos uploaded, I feel lost not getting to see my favorite family, I"ll start over from the beginning of ur videos again, till U get more videos posted love y'all lots....give the babies hugs and kisses from me
It looks new. So surprised when you said the age of the RV. You have done a great job, nothing senior sitizen about this one! :D Maybe you have answered this in another video, but how long have you been travelling, and how do you make a living, if you don´t mind me asking? I am a new subscriber - and I have to watch your old videos when I can find the time!
This week will be our 1 year anniversary of living the RV life! And we work for a company called Plexus. They make all natural supplements. Glad ya found us and thanks for watching!
Aloha. We appreciated your video and love following your family, especially seem to have a lot in common as a family who also loves Jesus and the Andy Griffith show. We wanted to ask, we are a family of 4 with a small dog and are leaning towards a Class C in 2 years... and wondered if you all would have chose a Class C over a Class A if you had a smaller family? If not, any reason other than space?
Hi!! We have lots in common sounds like! So I strongly wanted a diesel and their are not many diesel Class C’s that I could find in our price range under 50k . And the ones I did find did not have the quality as the Class As nor the storage space, nor air bag suspension or air brakes. So I would still pick a Class A for that reason. However if I was choosing a Gas RV then a Class C might have been our choice because the quality and build features of Class C’s & As are very similar. Go walk in a few and drive them and you will notice the differences.
Awesome video! How were the costs for maintenance and repairs? My wife and are I having the A class/ C class or trailer debate. I'd like a used A class but am worried the basic costs would be too much to handle if we were travelling on reduced income.
I’m looking at diesel pushers to haul my Jeep also. With the kids and wife it would make trips to crawling destinations that much more comfortable and be a good way to tow it. I’m looking for one to haul the Jeep on a trailer my jeeps a little more rock crawler/a little less street legal. Did you have a hard time financing that old or did you not finance it? Personal question I know, but that’s the era I’m looking for, up to 2007 and I’m reading it can be impossible to finance as a motorhome, and I might have to get a personal loan which I’m not interested in doing for the high interest rate.
We did finance it with a credit union and they didn’t say anything about the age. However I have heard something about that from others but I think it was on much older rigs like 20 yr+. I don’t think you will have any problems financing in that year range. Also I think Bank of the West or Good Sam has financing for RVs at good rates. We found our best rate was a credit union.
Thank you for sharing the video. If I may ask, how many miles did RV have when you purchased? Also, one more ?, did you happen to know why the original engine was replaced? Thanks in advance.
The coach had 92k miles but the newer engine had about 50k miles. No I’m not exactly sure why the original engine needed replaced. But I suspect it had to do with it overheating because of the clogged radiator.
I can't speak for motor homes. But I will talk about trailers. We started in a 2018 coachman travel trailer. That thing is built like disposable garbage. Low quality materials slapped together with little attention to detail. I can't wait till I can sell it. We just recently bought a 2005 Sprinter 5th wheel. So much better! Better materials and much higher build quality. If you are smart you will buy older, save money, and get a better quality rig. I just learned that lesson the hard way. Anyone want to buy my 2018 trailer that we are now $5K upside down in?
Im enjoying your videos but am really concerned with the safety factor of your wife up and meal prepping or the children using the rest room while you're driving. Im sure you are super safe with your precious cargo but what about the other crazy drivers??
