About lost a DT466 in a dump truck the same way. Stopped it before we lost all the oil. Bent the plastic line over and wrapped it with some tape. Popped the drain pug on the excavator we were towing and drained the oil from it into a plastic bottle found on the side of the road. Transferred all the oil to the truck engine 16 oz. at a time. Drove home none the worse for wear...

Really fascinating that the failure mode of some electronic oil pressure sensors are to blow a hole though them. The result is of course _not_ to report the low pressure nor any other error (a "sensor error" would've been nice), and since it's measuring high pressure oil, all the oil it's supposed to monitor is now promptly evacuated from the engine. We had an old Nissan Bluebird and it managed to do this twice in its 350k Km lifetime, only luck saved it both times.

For the record a 59 cent part didn't ruin that engine, the farmer that chose to ignore the oil leaking and not checking the oil is what caused the failure. It would take a long long time to empty the crankcase on an 1/8" line

We did a clutch change on my fatherinlaw's 1963 MF35. The adjustment was supposed to be ..090 gap. They had to machine .010 off the face, and so he adjusted the gap as .100 in the face of my argument to put it .080 to bring it closer to the face. Clutch works like shit, but too much effort to pull apart again to adjust. Would have been nice to have an ACCESS PANEL...

@ramst3d
@ramst3d 4 года назад
the sad part is that's how it should be.... because the mass majority MAY have that gauge and even if it flat lines or shows 0 etc they believe it's broken and continue on their way until its on fire and they're dialing 911 and so is everyone else and there is now a fuel/oil fire on the road all because someone "thought" their low oil pressure gauge was broken.. an extreme example but as a volunteer firefighter we actually see this a lot.. especially on vehicles KNOW to be equiped such as a Chevy Tahoe etc.... the person mentions its 0 but well.. too late when we get there.
@codymoncrief8478
@codymoncrief8478 4 года назад
RedAsMay I have seen that as well. Instead of “my gauge is reading low, I better stop and check it,” there is “this thing never has an issue, obviously the gauge is broken.” Fortunately some new vehicles do have automatic shutoff switches on the fuel pumps and such that will kill the motor if the oil pressure drops too low. I would rather have my motor shut off unexpectedly than have it explode unexpectedly

Hello I'm having some issues with my Massey Ferguson 35 it has the three cylinder Perkins diesel engine and the tractor overall runs pretty well the odd time you'll have a misfire but the issue I'm having is it has what I believe is a power loss at high RPM tractor will work fine and all its a low-range gears but if I put it in to say hi range first gear and I'm only at around half throttle the tractor will take off but then if you give it any more throttle it has no response if you give it 3/4 to Full Throttle and then depress the clutch pedal it will not rev up but as soon as you release the clutch pedal again it'll go back down to its half throttle when it does this it doesn't lug or make any weird sounds or misfires it still runs as good as it ever did it's almost like you lower the throttle whenever you release the clutch in a high range gear any help would be greatly appreciated I'm thinking it could be fuel filters fuel injection pump or possibly a bad injector but I do not know for sure I have not had the tractor for long and I'm new two diesel engines thanks

I've got an old Massey 85, shes got the Continental HD 277 engine, she burns some oil and oil pressure gauge is about 20 psi when cold, 10 psi when shes all warmed up and at full RPM, I watch that oil pressure gauge like a hawk, look back, check the brush hog, make steering correction, check oil and repeat.

Sounds like it might need a new oil pump.

Total lack of maintenance, they get what they deserve. As you know those tractors just keep on going if looked after.love your vids always different and interesting.

Farmers have help too and if you have employee's tpu know good help is hard to find. Planting season also demands long days and mistakes happen

I need to rebuild a 1100 massey how do you know if you can do an in frame rebuild? The rebuild kit comes with everything but the main bearings. If you didnt have to pull the crank what would you have done?

Pulled the sleeves and replaced all the bearings with it still in one piece. We have a video on rolling the main bearings.

For being that your from Candadah land where everything is metric, why are you using standard (thousands) when talking about machining the crank?

I think that is the choice of the machine shop. At least that's how mine is/was. I've never heard of one that operates in MM though I suppose they might overseas.

More timelapse videos like this showing actual work being performed. More exciting than the typical "talking head" format.
