$1,000 VALUE BOX OF 2011 TOPPS UPDATE! (Throwback Thursday)

The Diamond Anniversary cards are still the best looking topps cards to this day !❤

I pulled the only Trout update I ever owned out of one of these. Didn't even know who he was at the time and I just opened the packs and stuck the rookies and inserts into one of the packs until I read about him in Beckett a while later and saw the card was worth a whole $20 so I went back and saw I actually pulled it. I was stoked but once that card hit $100 I traded it for a Griffey Jr Mariners auto from some upper deck product and that later got lost in the mail in a different trade. I thought man a modern base rookie card at that time going for $100 seemed like that bubble would burst no matter who the player was because it always had and boy was I wrong. I wish I had that card back now for my RC collection but mostly because I actually pulled the card. I forgot what came in these value packs besides the update packs until I saw you post these. I still have the empty box with a ton of other old empty boxes of things I bought back then because I'm a hoarder. I wish I could trade for a Trout update somehow because I can't see myself spending cash on one anytime soon.

i started in 05 and stopped in 15...didnt kniw about the values till someone on yt said so i looked over my 70,000 plus cards...result...23 trout rookies and first year...been selling them off since 2022.

Ouch - lottery to get a trout. I had a few packs of 2011 that I just graded (got 10’s) and resold for around $200 each. The famous “might as well just buy the trout” than try to rip one. Fun rip though!

I remember back in 2011 and seeing these boxes in aisle displays by the hundreds in Walmart stores just sitting there... Who would ever thunk these would ever be worth a 1,000 dollars back then... I mean these boxes just sat and sat and never sold out... Alot of them went back to MJ Holdings and I know Blowout got a bunch of them also... Nobody was looking for this product when and after it came out... I bought several as they were a cheap break, but the only card everyone was chasing at the time was the Bryce Harper Bowman chrome auto.. That's why Topps put the 1 Bowman chrome hobby pack in the box and the gimmicky Harper chrome card that came in 3 different color variations. I also remember my LCS had hobby boxes on the discount shelves of the 2011 Topps update hobby for $39.99. Luckily, I bought 2 and put them away along with 1 of the $9.99 Walmart boxes. I don't have them anymore but I made out well on all 3 boxes... Thanks for sharing a ride down memory road!!!

I started collecting in 2010. Too bad I didn’t know the boxes would’ve sold for so much. I had like 10 of those diamond boxes.

I started collecting cards 2012 series 2. I wish I could go back and tell young me to buy the stuff sitting on the shelf from the year before 😭

I should've kept track of how many codes I entered on Topps web sight, I won a lot of buy backs and some of the Red diamond die cuts codes were only way to get them, I tried building that diamond anniversary set fell short, did end up with multiple Freddie Freeman, Jose altuve,( anniversary) I tore so many boxes I ended up with like 25+ Freeman rookie that I still have today plus target insert, 2 anniversary, Walmart black insert. Back then people were buying those boxes just for the Harper, trout wasn't a name at that time. If anyone is trying to finish the anniversary set I have hundreds of them I kept, no trout though
