Reiceived the MR 1 today, as I live in Europe it set me back € 2309.- incl transport. Was delivered within a week from Denmark so no import taxes and so forth. The 1999 usd is a real bargain price to me. First impression is that it is very well built, and the power and sound is excellent. When setting up, after attaching the loudspeakers start with attaching the HDMI 1 output to your flatscreen otherwise you're in for a waste of time trying to get to the sub menu's. From there via the tv screen setup is easy, one strange thing: the internal amp came with the setting "off" so there was no sound whatsoever. You find it at the end of the setup loudspeaker menu be shure to set it to "on". Ok - with 4 Infinity Kappa 8.2 i LS, Kappa B 4 way center end kappa 300 W sub it can handle high volumes without audible distortion, the receiver stays cool, in comparison my Harman Kardon AVR 8500 did generate some heat at those sound levels. Some extra optical and toslink imputs would be nice and as I use older stuff all cinch and optical inputs are taken directly. And like the Hk it has no phono amp built in. So buy a preamp for that.
There are definitely some compromises that will be made when you buy this product. But I will say this. The sound that comes out of this thing is amazing! All AV receivers seem to be having their issues lately. Before I purchased the Emotiva I was on my second RZ-50. I am hoping that when an update/upgrade comes that I will be able to send my unit to Emotiva and get it. I have been happy with everything that I have purchased so far. The Basx line has been able to allow me to have the big theater but not the big of reach price. Keep on making things better.
I was originally considering a rz50 but wanted to look into the emotiva line for external amps. Then I found this beast. If I just wanted to run a 5.2 system for movies music and games I read it'll do 135 watts per channel!!!! If it does simple t.v playback that's all I need it for. I was gonna get the svs ultra bookshelves and that
@@Capybarainahumansuit it will do that without a breaking a sweat. But Emotiva is not known for their hardware, so you may run into some issues that you normally wouldn’t run into with other products. I guess it depends on what you want. At the end of the day, I will choose sound. My RZ50 is a beast, but the Emotiva is power per channel. The RZ 50 can’t match it. And when you add external amps it just makes it even better. Prime example. With my RZ50 setup I had to add 3 basx Emotiva power amps. With the Emotiva MR-1 I was able to take out one of the amps. I really didn’t need the A3, but kept it so I could run 10 channels off the amp instead of the full 13. I have an external Basx mini to run the last two channels for a full 13 channel system. I couldn’t do that with the RZ50 and to get that level I’d have to jump to the RZ70 and spend another $1500
RMC-1 + probably will be available 2025 with tons of bugs. I was basically a beta tester for them when i bought the rmc-1 when it first came out. More than 5 years later they still can't get the firmware right. I really hope they can get it together with the new upgrade path.
I get really excited seeing the new items in the Emotiva booth. The "em R 1" really missed an opportunity by not having the "eM R 1 2", and the grandaddy.. "Oh I C U 8 1 2". So the RMC1 to the RMC1+ basically is the edition of the web/app controller board, or does it have a controller board AND the 8k video?
Right, it drives me up the wall the way consumer products are officially priced. Then someone will introduce it saying something stupid like "it's under $2,000". 🤦🏽♂
