Wow! You are quite adventurous venturing into the Tondo neighborhood of Manila. Even some locals do not dare venture into that area. I know your time is limited but to truly see the beauty of the country, I suggest you venture out of Metro Manila and visit the countryside. Tagaytay is only an hour and a half South of the city and Batangas, the adjoining province has spectacular beaches. Thank you for considering the Philippines in your travel adventure.

I'd suggest to avoid eating too much fried foods especially sugary street foods for your health's sakes. These are not the normal Filipino food, these are just the fad.

I started watching your vlog over the weekend and I have to say I have been hooked. I was born in the Philippines and moved to the States in 1996 and have not been back. Thanks for all these awesome videos!!I noticed on a few videos that you called them purple ones blueberries. Just to help out, those are called UBE here in the Philippines. They are Purple Yams. A root crop almost synonymous to sweet potatoes.

That halo halo spot IS the original halo halo spot in Tondo. Also next time you have to mix the entire halo halo before you eat it. Halo Halo translates into mix mix.

By the way the difference between a regular and the special is not on the size but on the ingredients used or added into the halo-halo mixture to make it really special. Usually special halo - halo is being added of leche flan,ice cream and crispies.
The term "halo-halo" basically has two meaning. Its either "mix-mix" or "stir-stir". For "mix-mix" its a variety or mixture of ingredients such as jellies, sweet beans, tapioca, milk, ice-cream, shaved ice, sugar, leche flan, ube, etc. For "stir-stir" is actually to stir all the ingredients in a circular motion and pulling up and pushing down motion with your spoon. It s the normal process to get the best taste you can get with the "halo-halo". 😊
