I prefer the versatility of the Kelty. It's more comfortable with smaller loads, it can manage larger loads if need be, and it does both with one purchase, which is far more cost-effective than having two packs for the different conditions.
you probably dont care but if you are bored like me atm you can stream all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my brother for the last few weeks :)
I have a old Kelty 32 in the old style. Still love it still works. Both companies are good you couldn't go wrong with either one really. It just depends on which one you get for your needs
Two different day packs for two different purposes. For a solo day hike a 25L day pack like the Clear Creek is just fine. When on a day hike with the family including small children a larger day pack like the Kelty is appropriate. My go to day pack for family day hikes is the REI Trail 40. I like the looks and affordability of the Mountainsmith Clear Creek packs but the lack of waist belt pockets is deal breaker for me.
Since your review of the Kelty Zip 48 I ended up purchasing one on my search and rescue pro deal. Simply the best pack I have used. I sold my Osprey pack. I now ordered a Coyote 65 for bigger treks so I can carry gear and drone. Thanks for the great reviews
This weekend I was looking for a new pack, this video came to me at the perfect time. Aron you sold me on my first large knife purchase (Ontario SP8) and today you sold me on the Kelty. Thank you and keep the videos coming 🤙
While I like the Mountainsmith build quality and interior, I prefer the Kelty design, capacity, and comfort. If you hate carrying the load, a slight difference in build quality becomes secondary. I've used a Kelty Zephyr for years as an outdoors and travel bag. It does everything I need, distributes load well, and I can attach items easily. Handles loads over 30 lbs. without discomfort.
I picked up a 5.11 Rush 72 for 129.00 pretty close to your price range and kicked the bum right out of my old kelty . I have no experience with the other pack though . Might be worth a look .
I just ordered me a Kelty 36 from Amazon because I been looking for a good civilian pack versus one of my large or medium Alice packs I got when I was in the army or bought off of eBay which you can’t go wrong with em at all but just wanted something more blending in if anything happens especially when I’m on the road cause I’m a long haul box truck driver. Great great video!thank you very much and so very informative.
LL Bean Men's Ridge Runner Day Pack! 27L w/ a stash pocket as well! LL Bean has a larger model and a smaller model if you choose. Love that pack with its bottle pockets accessible while wearing the pack and would choose over the Mountain Smith, though it is more expensive. But LL Bean occasionally has good sales. Would still hold to your recommendation of about 20 lbs in it, though.
I am working for a forestry service clearing around powerlines I need a pack to carry my ppe ..hard hat raingear a Hoodie 2-half gallons of water plus smaller items what would be a good recommendation I was liking the Kelty strike 2300 I love the Xtra molle
Hi, we are comparing the Kelty backpack to see if it would fit my 14 year old son with a 18 inch torso. The specs of this pack mentions adjustable features but did not see you mentioning that.
@@bearhug72 it’s just a comparison between 3 types of water filtration systems and what each one can do better than the others shown but if that’s your opinion than it is what it is I guess
I have a custom mchale backpack it's a beast as it can carry 100 plus pounds easily. I also have a Kelty cloud the white one it carry's 50lbs plus decently. I've had lowe alpines, mtn smith, Gregory, pack's all did good. However the Kelty comes the closest to the mchale pack. Good review God Bless America Trump MMXX Banned.video
It's kinda unfair to compare 2 different brand and size backpack. If it were same size backpack I'd probably assume the audience favor will fall to Mountainsmith. I don't own any Mountainsmith products or whatsoever but I own Kelty Redwing 50 (2016) and I can say for the price it is not designed for rugged use like hiking in the mountain. It is more designed for hotel to hotel use only. I've seen alot of reviews with rips and tears in only few uses or months with light usage. Their single stitch seams proves that you cant stuff or overload enough to achieve the actual bulky look in their picture. Also I pointed this out in Kelty channel and they purposely make my comment invisible to other readers just so i cant harm their sale. What I'd like to see is the 2020 vs 2016 Kelty Redwing comparison.
The point of this video is in the title: $100 daypacks. The Mayhem 35 is quite a bit more than $100, but if he was doing similar size then yea the mayhem 35 should be compared to the redwing 36
WHY WOULD A 25 LITER HAVE LOAD LIFTERS?!?! Whining that it doesn’t have them is dumb especially when you know it shouldn’t. Damn, I used to like this channel
OK…before I even watch this, it’s a 25 liter vs a 36 liter for a “large volume” daypack comparison??? Already seems like you’re setting the Mountainsmith up to fail Aaron
