The price for public transportation from Palopo to Toraja varies; it is from 80K to 150K per person with rental taxis or private taxis (one person only). From Makassar to Toraja by bus, it starts at 200K-300K with AC. This transportation cost is not fixed, as it is influenced by fuel prices, which can sometimes double. However, that is the basic price.
i'm from toraja but never using any flight from makassar to taraja, i prefer to use bus with 8 hour long journey so i can enjoying the view longer hehe
come to Toraja, South Sulawesi, is very worth it because you guys can see many things, like the traditional Toraja funeral ceremony, ancient stone graves, and a complex of rock graves in cliffs with caves containing coffins and human remains. Tongkonan traditional houses, museums, etc. If you guys are not in a hurry or budgeting, I strongly recommend taking the bus to go there because this is a cheaper way than taking the plane. By bus, it costs only $13-$14 for an 8-hour journey.
Been at UPG airport countless times when I was working in Buton Island and South Sulawesi, good people, good memories, plenty of room to sit and chill even sleep, pretty clean toilets, clean mosque, plenty of place to eat, lounges too, very efficient check in process. Never been to Palopo nor Toraja but the're so beautiful in this video.
I think you're lucky for getting the taxi, the cost is also same amount for 3 passanger, and you paid it all for yourself, that's fair Except you had intended at the airport used the taxi straight as a private
the house behind that shop is like the chief house, its build like that, and when she say "kuburan" its mean grave, a lot of them .. and the guy thats called crazy, is crazy literally, like illness crazy or mentally ill .. for "lumbung", it means like a rice silo ..

Luke! Instead of trying to one-hand zoom by pinching on google maps, you can double tap with your thumb and drag up and down to zoom! Really enjoying the video so far. Best wishes from Sweden!
