With our exit papers in hand, we sailed away from the Panama coastline, and we felt like we had nowhere and everywhere to go. With no Country papers, Boundless’ only cruising permit is the international waters of the Pacific Ocean. Now of course this will be short lived, and although we are only following the coastline Northeast to Panama’s neighboring country of Costa Rica, its fun to think about the day we sail away from a country, exit papers in hand, with an ocean of water between us and our next destination. Currently, we are right about here. There is a peninsula that we have to round tonight, and somewhere on that land feature is the boarder between the two countries. We feel very lucky to have some wind for this passage, and to use that wind, we are sailing slightly off course, but we aren’t complaining. Boundless is sailing at 45 degrees apparent wind angle, in 8-10 knots of apparent wind, moving along at around 5 knots. This episode, you’re sailing with us into the sunset, and tomorrow, we embark on the next journey of checking into Costa Rica and getting more familiar with our diesel engine. But for now, theres nothing to do but enjoy the ride ✌🏼

Hey guys, great stuff, you should read up on you engine manual on the process of how you remove the water from the separation bowl, it should be done every 50 hrs on most motors, what you did in the end was needed, but you should check your engine manual and understand why, its about a 45 minute read, and like you said your boat has great access to the systems you need and it can be done easily. "when water and dirt are mixed in with the fuel, it becomes impossible for the fuel injection pump and the fuel injection vales to work, When there is a lot of liquid collected in the oil/water separator, at the bottom of the fuel filter, the fuel filter alarm lamp with light up" Cruising down from San Francisco to Costa Rica, I hope to run into you guys on the way :) Cheers :)

Bleeding the fuel line on a new (to you) engine is always fun. Your engine looks spotless. I’ve seen and worked on far worse.

Hey Guys, We found your channel when we were looking for videos about Spanish Wells for our trip in January 2024. We found your video with Spanish Wells in the title, only after did we figure out that there was more than one video there. We have been slowly watching from the beginning. We really enjoy watching your videos. You guys are inspirational with how you are living your lives. The way you Parker explain what you are fixing or working is super clear, I have understood all except for making the halyards, but that's on me. We have bought some of the products you have, like Katy's Tifosi sunglasses. It's great seeing two nice people doing what they love and thanks for taking us along for the ride.

A retired USA Merchant Marine officer, employed with ARCO Marine, Inc. ARCO ran between Valdez, Alaska to Puerto Armuelles in Panama, whence they would pipeline our crude oil across the isthmus to Mexico. We use to call the point of land between Panama and Costa Rica Point Armuelles or Charco Azul. A US gallon is equal to 3.785 litters. Spectacular episode, your editing and cinematography is grand.

I have heard that Costa Rica has the most restrictions and govt. papers making it less likely a stop for many cruisers. Their reputation is building.

Hey Parker! Looking good. Can you explain what fuel polishing means and what it entails?
@SailingSeawind
@SailingSeawind 3 месяца назад
Fuel polishing is pumping fuel from one tank, through a filter and water separator, and into another tank. Since we have two side by side tanks on Boundless, it would be possible to set up something like that. But the problem is, if both tanks are full, I would need a third to pump the fuel into after polishing. I've seen some people install a small capacity "day tank" that the polished fuel is pumped into, and the engine runs only from that smaller tank. As the day tank gets used up, you polish more fuel from the larger tanks into it.
@tonysmario817
@tonysmario817 3 месяца назад
@@SailingSeawind if you have fuel gauges on the tanks, you can run them to just under 50% capacity, and then polish from one to the other, filling first one tank with half the other, and then filling the now empty tank with the full one.

I was thinking Cruiser friendly meant, safe for Cruisers? $40 to park a dingy reflects the buying power of the dollar? I would probably be hitching a ride or just getting dropped off if money was tight. I wonder if resident sailors are subjected to the same.
@grancitodos7318

It reflects how greedy the owners are, or in some places like the Bahamas, the $140 for dinghy parking is likely to discourage people.

@@grancitodos7318 review.. Easy docking, nice dock, NO dockhand! Charged $55 to dock for 2 hours with no assistance, no supplies... It's a hard life living in paradise if you need fuel, water, provisions..Makes sense to be a creator for sure.. write offs/cost of doing business. $150 for dingy, or $55 for 2 hours docking. What can you get done in 2 hours when you need to walk a ways for provisions? If shopping for a family, geese.. These creators really do need subscribers/patreon/donations to pay for that dream, hence when they say they couldn't be doing it without them.

Being candid, I am interested in this life for my retirement. Pointing the camera at your face and speaking for minutes at a time, while you could be showing us the ocean, the boat and other things, is like watching someone produce a radio show. If you must not show us what you are seeing, can it be her more often? Thank you.

@@SV-Mig Man, when these youtubers start pointing the cameras at their faces I start to lose interest. They are not tv producers, this isn't radio. It's like a therapy session for them. Especially when they say things like "You should see how beautiful it is here" If you turn the camera around we can. A Channel 'My Fist Boat', this guy is great. He fixes his boats, he doesn't tell you about it first. He is fixing the boat with cameras pointed at him working, not his face talking. Any words are voiced over, not talking while he's working. He explains it with chill music in the back. Not trying to be Hemmingway. Some of these youtubers go on and on about what they are going to do? It's a video, show us! lol. Anyway...I'm jealous, I wish I were on a boat. I won't be youtubing. lol.
