$1000 a month selling candles as a side business 

My wife and I actually just gave it a shot for the last 30 days and used this video when starting out..I tried to document as much of it as possible actually, we wound up hitting a little over $1k our first month. awesome video man and thanks for the tips!

This. Freaking this right HERE! THIS is how videos should be made. The very basics, without trying to shove everything they know down our throats (trying to feed us meat before the milk, in a manner of speaking.) I've seen videos an hour long or longer where WAY too much was given, with a thousand different methods/products to sell, and it was overwhelming, just way too much. But this, this was short, informative, basic and to the point. Freaking finally! Well done and thank you for your video!

I messed up in two spots here! Lol The profit on the 8oz candle is $7.40 and I put $7.20 I also doubled the profit from the 8oz instead of actually using math. The profit for the 16oz candle is $12.80 You would need to sell five more 16oz candle to meet the $1000 profit mark 😁 It should also be noted that these are all approximate costs and not exact by any means.

I have worked at the same place for seventeen years now but recently I have really been interested in starting something small on the side apart from work. I would honestly love to eventually go to part time or be successful enough just selling candles so I can spend more time with my kids. So I really appreciate your expertise in this. Glad I found your channel. Thank you.

The selling of them is the hard part. Getting outlets or markets to buy your product.

This can also be apart of a line of other handcrafted products which adds to the profit. I have been making soaps, salts, bombs for years. By themselves a hard sell but combined increases profits. Thanks!

i just came across candle selling very recently and watched a ton of videos in the past week. and i have to say what amazes me the most is how many men are into candle making! i really don‘t know that many men who actually like scented candles so this was quite unexpected to me 😊

I believe I just saw his candles on Amazon handmade. I work for Amazon and used to seek my body care products I made in my nail shop years ago so decided to start up again now that the kids are basically grown and thought why not sell at Amazon while I work for them too. Checked out the handmade section and this guy's products were on the site. Awesome

A 16 oz candle sells for $20. This translate to 50 candles per month. Assuming 10 candles/day, that 5 days or 40 hours of labor. Assuming cost of goods of $200 (ie 5x mark up), that’s $800 for 40 hours which is $20/hour. This is slightly above minimum wage.

Thank you for sharing this. It may sound silly, but I just want to sell candles so that I can continue to make them and have an outlet for my hobby. There are only so many candles that I can burn in my own home. This gives me hope that I'll be able to at least cover my own costs, and make a little bit on the side.

Theres a lot of work involved . A lot of hauling , loading unloading ,set up,unloading again ,. Wrapping is real important too.Tappers unwrapped pick up a lot of grit at a dusty market.. Testing is way important as well ...and time consuming but very important .so many different kinds of wax and then each one may have it's melting point it's own temp . Not to mention it's own type of wick depending on size .Believe it or not ,most people are ignorant about candle safety so for the sake of ethics you should put warning labels on them and always remind them not to go to sleep with a candle burning never leave them unattended especially if they have pets as one swipe by a dog tail and it can wind up on the floor etc . tell them to keep the wick trimmed and never set a candle on a shelf to burn it ..give it plenty of overhead like 6 to 8 8 feet over head etc.

im thinking of starting a small candle company, really in this day in age its all social media marketing. I just so happen to own a media/marketing business. ; )

Something that discusses business license, farmer markets booth fees, packaging cost, taxes, freight cost on your raw materials,advertising (website, literature,flyers), etc. With any business there is a lot of behind the scene cost that most people don't think about. I was just curious as to how much other expenses goes into a small candle making business with one or two employees. I also know a lot of this will depend on your local area and the quality of your product as well but I was just wondering as a ball park and to get some insight. Thanks again.

What goes into making candles? Is it the same creation process for all types of oils and waxes? (I.e boil and chill time) or is it all different? Id love to see a video on precise steps to take to make the perfect burning candle.

I can't wait to make a great candle so I can sell. I just haven't found the right wax/wick combo. I'm on fixed income and would welcome the extra money. I need to get insurance and business license after making the perfect candle that I can sell. Tomorrow is another "test" day.
