As an American living in Ireland I can definitely confirm that the standard for Guinness is regrettable at the majority of bars in the USA that serve it. I was laughing in your last video when you noticed you could order Guinness by the pitcher. A few years back when I was back home in Missouri visiting, I was at a local bar with my Irish wife. She doesn't even like Guinness but was still mortified that they served it in pitchers lmao.
It's just wrong lol. You can get away with pitchers if you are just going to be throwing back some standard lager all night but it is a ridiculous way to serve Guinness
They do it in the UK too, absolutely oblivious to the fact that you cant repour it. My wife was at a family wedding a few years back and every table was server pitchers of Guinness. Her Dad ended up having to drink it straight from the jug. Which explains how he was in bed by 9pm with no memory of the evening.
On a related topic It's also worth noting, old boy, that at Trent Bridge in Nottingham a plastic pint beaker of Guinness Extra Cold (with a minimal head and micro-bubbles all up the side of the "glass") is £6.50 + £1.00 for the beaker!! (7.47 euro plus 1.15 euro for the cup as a one-off, which you don't get back) The reason for raising this is that Ireland are taking on England in a One Day International at Trent Bridge in September (Which is cricket to the uninitiated!!) and if the visiting lads are looking for a pint...they'd better bring a debit or credit card stuffed full of scheckles!!
Hi Guru, you should try "fleadh drinking" when you get served two pints at the same time. Not sure if you've ever heard of it but basically you take a swig of the first pint, then a swig of the second, back to the first, then the second and so on and on. Your second pint won't go dead on ya! Keep up the good work, big fan of yours here in Thurles. Love a good pint me!
Midwest and East Coast is where you'll find the Irish pubs here. Kansas City or St Louis, Missouri-Chicago-Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-Boston, Mass...
I would be surprised if you found a good pint of the G here on the West Coast, let alone a great one. Pretty sure ours is poured with Co2 instead of nitro... Its rank here, I won't drink it, but I absolutely loved it when we were there on Ireland back in 2019. Had my first pint at The Left Bank in Kilkenny and the next at the G Storehouse... I'm a Smithwick's guy myse myself, the wife is a Guinness drinker..

if youre ever back in southern california, try Muldoons irish pub in Newport beach, also The Harp Inn in Costa Mesa. Muldoons said to have best pint in orange county..
Go to Blackpool, never in my life seen so many bars doing happy hours or happy days. Two quid for a pint of Fosters, 3.50 for a pint of Guinness! of course, you have to sit with the piss pots of Blackpool, but if its a nice days and there's outside seating, interesting watching the locals walk past.

Come to Minnesota Guru. Our Twin Cities (Minneapolis & St.Paul) have lots of Irish Pubs! Unfortunately the way most bartenders pour a pint of the black stuff in the US will make you grind your teeth and go behind the bar and do it yourself. Nevertheless good craig! Slainte!

Good video Guru! Seeing those mediocre ‘pints’. They’re more like half-filled glasses! It makes me very hesitant to order Guinness abroad (if I even have the time to go on holidays). Unless now; the bar staff actually care about how they store the Guinness kegs and pouring process. Seems to me those barpeople just either don’t know or don’t care about the standard of a delicately-poured pint.
Also: As a sports fan myself…I see what you’re saying about the mainstream sports over here in Ireland and the U.K. being more sporadic, like an every 2-3 days occurring event. I think the reason being is that a minority of the fans, players or organiser’s would just complain that’s there’s too much on (I guess!?) whereas the Americans don’t know any other way of scheduling and just love cramming in as much events as possible!

Must say the premise here is rather absurd. Quite obviously, if I go to Ireland and look for a decent carne asada burrito, I’m sure to be bitterly disappointed.
I live just up the road from there. I’ve not had a pint of Guinness since living in LA. It’s just godawful here. I’ve had a decentish pint in New York but nothing ever good on the west coast.
If you’re looking for some decent Irish pubs with excellent Guinness, go to Malta, Mate. Either Corks, the Dubliner in St Julian’s or The Long Haul Irish Pub also in St Julian’s. The Lemon & Lime in Marsascala was my local. But there’s bars a plenty, Fella! Slainte!
To be fair, I dont think you could expect Americans to serve Guinness correctly. How would they know about the dome and not getting bubbles in the head and the importance of the glass the pint is served in. They just fire it in any glass/plastic cup and take the money, same as any other beer to them. I am surprised any of the pubs over there have Guinness at all.
