I ordered a cheap Chinese $130 11 speed group set from Amazon for my Specialized Rockhopper hardtail mountain bike, to replace a failed try with a Sram NX 11 speed group set. The kit is comprised of an L-Twoo 11 to 50 tooth 11 speed cassette, an L-Twoo AX long cage derailleur, an L-Twoo AX trigger shifter, and a KMC chain. I can't help but chuckle at how big the 50 tooth low gear looks on the bike, especially with a 32 tooth chainring.
The groupset installed with no problems at all. After running the new inner shift cable through the existing outer, it was a simple matter to connect it to the derailleur. The AX unit is as straightforward as most Shimano units in that respect. It shifted nearly perfectly right out of the box, needing only a slight tweaking of the barrel adjuster.
I took it for a quick test ride to the corner and back to test the shifting under load. It worked fine, but the funny thing was that in first, second, and third I could barely generate any forward momentum on level ground. I may add a 34 tooth chainring later just to see what happens.
So, my first impression of the L-Twoo AX 11 speed group set is favorable. It appears to be well built. The cassette, derailleur, and shifter all installed with zero issues. Other than normal indexing, the group set shifts smoothly and accurately.
