Many possibilities possible. If home prices keep going up and rents keep climbing it might be a good alternative. Definitely would be a Louisiana bayou upgrade, especially with a gator proof entry gate.
This is perfect for a retired couple. They have sold their boat and still love the water. They now have a runabout boat. And perfect home for a couple with no kids
Love these little houseboats. Perfect for couples. I live in Lake Eildon, Victoria, Australia. It is the home of the largest inland boating club in Australia. You should check it out. The houseboats max out at 60ft and some are 3 stories high.
Those adjustable exterior side rails are clever. The customization possibilities are limitless ! A putting green, grill and loungers would work well on that rooftop.
I absolutely love the variety you two continue to share. I could see myself living in something like this. The only thing I can say I haven’t seen you tour, and you may have I can’t say I’ve seen all your videos, are the enormous house boats you’ll find out there. Our family recently took a vacation on Lake Havasu on an 85’ house boat it had anything and everything you could possibly want. It was basically a 6000 square foot floating house.
You live in California but it seems that you are not aware of the many boating opportunities beyond Marina Del Rey, Newport, San Diego. There are many California lakes that provide houseboat recreation. By that I mean that the houseboats are boats, not floating houses. Tahoe, Shasta, Havesu, the Delta, dozens of foothill lakes operated by the USACE...
I'm picturing myself pulling that thing out of that slip with that 20 mph crosswind. And with a 35 hp outboard. It would render itself completely useless after a few hours. Then for sale.
Yacht tours, then house tours, then houseboat tours. It seems a natural progression. Thanks for showing a very reasonably priced option for life on the water.
Add the houseboat to your Merch Store! I thought this would be boring but no it was great. The comparison was on point. I have poor spatial imagination but the model home solved that. Thanks. Rico’s suggestion of an electric motor on the bow was smart and is great advice.
I gave you a hard time about video editing (jump cuts during a factory tour) and have to say your latest videos are really great! Dynamic, good flow and edits are seamless. Well done! Coincidence, or intentional? I don't know - but I see a big step up in quality (not that you ever had 'bad' videos lol). Keep up the great work, and I like that you provide variety. Luxury yachts to affordable vessels, it's nice to see you aren't in a rut. I would like to know more about zoning and municipal rules for Airbnb boats, and average expense for dock etc. Perhaps someone could provide some input on that? :) Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and thanks for all your videos! :)
I love it…. Could be a plan-B for a retired couple… We can’t take it to the Bahamas so not for us, but might be a great rental unit to bring in some income. 😊
For the upstairs terrace I would totally go with an inflatable jacuzzi and bar setup as well as chaise loungers and a great sound system. Set up a partial triangular sunshade with corner mounted aluminum tall poles and string up lights everywhere. Cheers from south Florida. 👍🌴🌴🌴🌴
With that type of dock mooring if the top structure would support the weight of a small inflatable hot tub would be cool but would not want the weight up top if underway but it's not really meant as a boat just a floating home that gives you the ability to move up or down the canal
Nice floating tiny home, but hate the bathroom walls. They don't go all the way up and seal to the ceiling so all the shower steam and bathroom smells 💩💨🤢 (and sounds!) are going to fill the rest of the place up.
Fun tours. I wonder if the roof could handle a Jacuzzi? Obviously I would put table and chairs to eat on the roof. And a lounger. How much to plug in there or rent that space. I love it as a second home that you rent out on AirBNB.
These are super basic and I like that. I'm not a super basic kind of guy, I like high tech and I like quality products but what I don't like is paying for someone else's opinion on style or their ideas on what is useful because they rarely align with my own. Having something that is truly a blank slate like this is fantastic and being priced as it is is even better because the thing I hate more than anything else paying for a name. I loath the practice of incorporating brand value into product value and more and more these days the two are becoming intrinsically linked.
It is allways fascinating what the Nauty and Boat Business is possible to make. Because of that it would be interesting to show also Houseboats once or twice a Year on your Channel, but i think your Main Theme should stay on the real Boats and Yachts. When you mentioned the Man Cave Idea for the House- boat, i thought what about a "floating" Home Cinema or Music Studio. I wish you both and your Family a wonderful and relaxing Christmas/Happy Holidays and all the Best.
Why does the wall on the shower not separate the kitchen from the bathroom??? In fact NONE OF THE BATHROOM WALLS GO TO THE CEILING… …absolutely disgusting design.
Love this idea keeping things fresh in your content and as always I love you both and your great energy. To answer your question, I saw a design show from the UK that featured a floating house in a flood plain (complete with a basement...?) and they called those posts that kept it in place during high-water 'dolphins' if I remember correctly. Hope you have a terrific Christmas and New Years!
Nice idea. I’d have to seriously consider it. I just wonder do you have to get homeowners insurance or boat insurance for it. I love the large deck on top. Great place to kick back and relax. We know it has a/c but what about heating? I’ll have to look at website
Very nice, but having lived in South Florida for close to 30 years I wonder how they would fair during a hurricane. Insurance could also possibly make these more un-economical.
Shouldn't you talk about the cost to keep your pontoon boat docked? And, the utilities that it will use and the cost. If you finance, what would be the total monthly cost to the owner?
Very interesting and well done concept. Really like your idea of using it as an extra space for a waterfront home. You two clearly had a great time doing this video, and it was a lot of fun to watch.
Interesting idea. Very affordable dockside living. Getting underway....maybe not. That's a huge sail area for that single little engine. The docking rail system is great. I have seen that before. Beats the sun eating up lines. Like the large open space, and not feeling like a shipping container Overall neat solution to water side living. Without a huge upkeep cost. Lots of space to grill, chill, drink, read and enjoy the view 😊😊😊😊 No engine room tour 😂😂😂😂😂 Proper stairs...Victoria ❤
Love your channel! I have spent a few weeks living on a 3 cabin houseboat my family used to own on the Murray River in Australia. My uncle and friends once relocated it down river from Mildura to Tailem Bend which is 1000 miles by river but only 170 miles in a straight line. It took well over a week. It was very comfortable to live on board. When sleeping I hardly noticed any movement. On the other hand the steering took some getting used to as there was a long lag between turning the wheel and when the boat started to turn so you had to anticipate your next move and make it early. There are multiple locks as you cruise down the river which take some time to get through. There are a whole range of houseboats types on the river from mansions on water, luxury cruisers to basic floating boxes. You should check them out on your next visit down under.
Another quality tour from Victoria and Rico!!! You see other boat "tours" when brokers are trying to show yachts that are only 8-10 minutes long. How the heck can you sell a boat if you just rush through it? Want to know how to do a proper tour? Just watch Nauti Styles yacht (& houseboat) tours-that's a real gold standard.
Merry Christmas to my favorite captains! May you two extraordinary people always discover the wisdom to cherish today's blessings and the courage to confront tomorrow's possibilities. (A poet's way of saying "You got this, guys!") - Duke
In Australia we are having a housing crisis. The price of buying and renting has gone through the roof. These houseboats would sell like hotcakes here although I don't know what mooring fee charges would come with this idea. Thank you Rico and Victoria for your content this year. With all the doom and gloom in the news this year it is great to watch you guys just... enjoy yourselves. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Ho, ho, ho etc.
I lived aboard my yacht for a few years. Living aboard is mostly discouraged in Australian rivers and inlets. In some areas houseboat dwellers are constantly under threat of complaints from locals and tourists. People need to be sure there are permanent berths or anchorages for these houseboats.
I like the houseboat review. It's much more accessible for a lot of people. Lower cost of entry. Plenty of rivers in the middle of the continent that I can use that instead of a deep keeled sailboat.
Hair is looking nice longer ... I just wonder being poor like myself .. what would insurance & dock costs be per year on Houseboats like that? ... Mercy, .. the 2nd one on top is glorious! ... For sure you guys should do more Houseboats. ... AND, ... That master in the 2nd is wonderful.
I would install a queen sized murphy bed with built in closet/storage on either side of the bed. With a lounge chairs attached to the outside. When the bed is in use the lounge folds under it and when the bed is up you have a like room. Id put a window where the door is and move the door to the wall at the front of the bed to enjoy the views
I really love what you guys do and all the awesome info you share. Sometimes it feels a bit like a sales pitch, but that's okay! As we're getting ready to move to Florida and start this new chapter, I'm curious-how can we help spread the word about all the great stuff you offer? Thanks for everything!"
This video is so much more longer than I would've liked, should start your videos with a walkthrough without words, like a short 30 second walk through/showcase at the start.
Less Talking & More Touring - you guys need to work on that some more. Great value houseboat for $150K. I would love to see a 40 footer thats 12 or 14 foot wide with a bigger back porch & small kitchen island all fornunder $200K.
So you show a 10 ft with empty boat the you shoe a 12 boat fully furnished....... that is BS ... non of the furniture fit same in the 10 ft of emptiness dreams. HOW MUCH FOR THE 12ft WIDE
*I been watching for a while and your hand gestures are getting way out of control! Unless you want to look like bernie sanders put your hands in your pockets FFS!*
What would I put in that space? Wind Sail, Wind Vane, Wind Generator, Solar Panels and maybe a couple of Desalinization Generators (good to have a spare for parts), a couple of generators and maybe a 2-3000 lb lifting crane, (everything shored up underneath). Just saying, thats what I would do if I had the luxury
$149k is NOT affordable 😒 You can get nicer boats for under $50k and then have $99k to update the way you want and STILL have dock and fuel $$ for years!
OMG... what an irritating presentation 🫣 So much chatter and pointless shots of the woman. We want to see the products... not you. Honestly... I had to turn off the volume and scroll through to see the features of the boat. Constructive criticism.... nothing to do with you as people... just the presentation, which grates....
No, not for the price. It's well built and the fittings are quality but I want more than that for 150k. It's largest failing is the beam, it's way too narrow, it needs to be 15 feet ideally and even an extra 2 feet would have made a huge difference. The lack of windows in this example makes it feel even smaller. With a 10-foot beam you end up with only 9 feet of interior space due to the thickness of the foam sandwich walls. Even the larger one, you say "12 feet wide!" like it's something special, that's narrow for a houseboat and barely average for a "real" boat that length. This is the first time I've felt the praise you are giving may not be genuinely felt or deserved and I hope I'm wrong. Sorry guys but this one genuinely feels like an advert (tho I am not implying for a second that there was any reward involved here) and that feeling got stronger the longer I watched. Not what I expect from you guys and a bit disappointing TBH.
Very nice, the question I have is: what about a washer/dryer? Hopefully that's an option...going to a laundromat takes some of the magic away from these.
Interesting they used Evinrude outboards. They went bankrupt a few years ago and are no longer manufacturing outboards. They do still seem to be providing support though. That said, I would be hesitant to buy one unless the price was very low.
Feel like they at least need a stove top burner or something. Otherwise you're microwaving every meal? Then again, pretty much everyone has separate cooker things nowadays. Toaster ovens, air fryers, propane burner etc.
So all that you have for $150 000 is a kitchen and a bedroom plus the dock fee that is probably not cheap if your gonna park in a relatively nice marina. I would like to see this box container in a middle of a storm with the possibility to tip to the sides.
Funny this is seen as new thing. These types of house boats have been in the UK for decades. Still, they're very nice. And probably better to live in when sited in Florida 😂😂
Just saying across the channel on the inlet there's this mobile home across from our mansion..... just saying if I can think of it somebody else could have all of a sudden my Mansion is surrounded by floating mobile homes. Just something to think about
