In this video we resurrect a Firefox 620 go kart we are calling internet explorer. It has a 6hp Mitsubishi engine that had a gummed up carburetor and it only needed a rebuild to get running and driving. It's especially cool because it has a full suspension with front independent suspension. After we got it running we took it off road and had a lot of fun driving it around. We found this thing cheap on craigslist and plan on doing a full build with it in the future!

If that TC is working properly (did sound a bit high-geared on take off) the next thing I reckon you should do is remove the governor from the Mitsi engine and make sure the exhaust isn't bent/restricted as it looks to be blowing directly on the frame tube.Other than these 0-buck mods I'd suggest replacing the chain/sprocket combo to gear down a bit and help it get "out the hole" better (plus that chain is haggard anyway lol). This and removing the governor should get a bit more out of it, and if you end up blowing the motor you were gonna swap it anyway right? might as well get your money's worth out of it first... Oh, one last thing is either replace the carb or make sure it's fully cleaned out, that might help power too. Thanks for sharing, I think you got a bargain.

The sprockets are definitely a speed issue, I think it goes from about an 8 to a 70 tooth, Should get like a 12 tooth lol

I doubt you'll ever see this comment, anyhow....I just picked up this exact cart frame today. No engine but I'm putting on a Predator 301 or 420. For the life of me, I could NOT figure out what kind of kart it was. Mine had no markings. Thanks for solving that for me! J

I think most of the top speed issue has to deal with the gear ratio that’s on it.If you’re running it at 3600 rpm, it should run about 22mph.The gear ratio is like 8.75 I think.The sprockets on it are like 8 and 70.Mine’s also really slow, but it’s like the best thing I’ve driven for off-roading.Mine’s yellow, but I think they’re the same.I got mine a few weeks ago and had to clean the gas tank and the carb.The gas tank was a pain to get on and off.It doesn’t have a seat bottom yet but I’m going to bolt an old seat cushion on it hat I’m sitting on to drive it.Paid 250 for mine, needs new front tires, but it’s a Monster.Thinking about putting a 12 tooth sprocket on it,If it’s hitting 22 right now it should get close or over 30mph.

I’d do 2 things with this 1 fix the CVT (torque converter) it seems to have an issue with something slipping either the belt or clutch portion seems to have an issue 2. Remove the governor That would give it way better top end and higher top speed I would swap the engine for a predator. Everyone does that I’d try something different. The engine seems to be pretty healthy. No knocks or ticks. It also seems to not have any blowby which means you’ve got good piston rings. I’d keep it if I were you

The front alignment is keeping it from accelerating. Looks like too much toe-in is acting like the brakes are on.

You should keep the original engine it has on it right now can clean it up a bit and see if you can get some performance for the engine

have you checked the axle rod bearings? i noticed it still locked up and very poor acceleration

may as well see if its able to be restored take them off and set them in fresh oil for the night it just may do the trick better off saving money that way if that fails then yeah go ahead and get new ones only reason i say this is because it just a $150 go cart might as well keep it a cheap build your buddy spike ;)

That's exactly what I was thinking. The tires stopped dead while it was on the jack at 9:30 and it also killed the engine. If it can't freewheel with no friction, then your axle is nearly locked up or brakes are stuck. And since you know the brakes aren't working atm, it must be axle bearings or the torque converter seizing.

My predator 212 Boggs out and sometimes it shuts down I think it a fuel issue but the engine is almost completely new

There’s a low oil cut off switch on predators that will shut them off a lot if you still have it connected and drive it Offroad. If it normally drives fine but shuts off when you hit big bumps and stuff that’s probably your issue.

Have this same kart, just recieved my new 16 hp duromax. Ready to roll, accept, problem of course. So rear axle bearings r rusted, how do i remove them? Got tires off of splined axle (hard) and need to know how to remove axle bearings n rear.any help greatly appreciated
