Favorite sign hanging behind a bar-“Free Beer Tomorrow “ go back the next day, bartender points to sign- “oh no, that’s tomorrow”. Sure this will work- take advantage of your mill. Slab boards 1/2 or 5/8 thick rotate on edge, maybe 12 or 16 then put a bar clamp on each end half way down the cant to keep them together. Set your cut for 7/8 or 1”. As you cut down the length Karen could set a weight( like a 20 lb bag of sand or something to keep them from chattering. You can make a ton of these strips in short order. Last step- cut to length on chop-saw ( with 4 hands won’t be like herding cats) can cut 16-20 strips at a time. Only “down-side” your kindling will be perfectly uniform, or can mix in oddball pieces for effect. I own a Cabinet shop and make the guys save all the hardwood rips like these and I cut them up-will be doing this the coming weekend. Nice job on those kindling tubes 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

Slab, one edge square. Multi-blade with power feeder table-saw, like the machines that cut moulding profiles or slice flooring. Fast. Even an overhead feeder on a heavy duty table-saw will speed up the rip and improve safety (hands off). Can feed them in and out on rollers. The other thing I did was buy pickup loads of scrap hardwood strips from a local flooring mill. Cheap, premium kiln dried, cut to length, bag it. Love that wood splitter. Cheers. ps; on the kindling price. Make it the same as the firewood. Easy roadside math. Your winter cordwood customers will need several bags. Perfect for carrying into the house and keeping it neat near the fire. Just a few ideas. Everybody can use more options.

Hello Phil and Karen! I must have missed this video when I was away, lol. I have just started making kindling myself and boy it is a bit of work doing it by hand and on my own. When I have a spare minute or two I will split a few small rounds and bag them, lol. Once again, I love your video and what you do.

Holy moly that was a lot of kindling!😂 We have been selling kindling for a couple years and do pretty good with it. Just adds a little something extra to offer customers to make you stand out. I have always used a piece of schedule 40 and the same mesh bags. I think we all stole the idea from Mama Grizz on that WoodGuy’s Channel. Works great. Take care Phil and Karen👊🏻

Suggestion for making kindling. Between 11:30-12:30 you split a lot of small parts. Perhaps consider a slip on wedge with like 8-12 smaller blades to go over your main blade. Since you don't really need the force, it should work well for you.

I don't need one of those however, here are my thoughts. Round labels placed in the bottom of each bag/tube with kindling loaded on top. Keep tie wraps open feeding the end through maybe three locations around the bag - feed in and out - then tighten. Tie wrap stays put. This is the big one. I have a 4" jointer with three knives. There are wider knives as well. Make a square tube mounting the knives inset vertical at one end spaced apart 3/4 to 1" as you like. Stack 1 by boards horizontal. Use a press to push the boards through the knives. The more knives, the wider the square tube can be. The tube will keep the boards aligned while passing through the blades splitting them in one go. Kind of like a food press slicer.

T-shirts. Kindling broken sample guns wore out tires. Something tasty from Maine, Oh man, the possibilities are endless 😁👍

Adding a little kinding to the bundle along with a firestsrter coupd be an idea. They'd only need a source of fire to get it started

Hi guys, when I make my kinlin I use nice straight maple, soft or hard it doesn't matter as long as there are no knots in it. I didn't think I could make that much money selling Kinlin! $3 a bundle, 2 for $5 sounds like a great deal! Great video!

I enjoy your determination and thinking outside the box. DAD BURN-IT CAMPFIRE WOOD I always put in 5 or 6 pieces of kindling . Sorta have to place them strategically so the don't slide out.

I'm toying with the idea of using the WR bagging system and with the Quadel netting , but putting in a false bottom with a two gallon bucket, then short cutting the netting to match. FYI, one of the brilliant features of Ole Buster is you can set the upper limit of travel for the wedge. Count your costs, getting the logs, milling boards, cutting to length, splitting, bagging, palletizing, delivering, and loss by theft. We know you are married to the accountant.

I take all the slivers off the 4 and 6 way wedge as I’m splitting hardwood for kindling. Keep the wheelbarrow right beside the splitter.

With the extra time to make it, $3 per bundle is decent price. Though if buying wood and you have some room, always buy by the face cord. Buy it and keep it at home and just bundle yourself and take couple when you go camping.

I like your pipe for putting the kindling in the bags. I have a suggestion, though on the top on the inside if you’ll put the bevel on it like you do on the bottom to pull the bags over it might be easier dropping your kindling in and big bunches it won’t have that big lip to hang up on just a thought and I know this has been about 3 to 5 months ago when you filmed this I’m not looking to win somebody else can use it.

Hey guys! I hope the kindling works out for you. I made up 4 bundles of kindling in the spring and still have 1 left yet. It hasn't been great for me. I like how you are packaging it though.

If bag length allows, spin the Bag to close the top. Then Fold the top down and slide the Ty-wrap down the Fold and cinch tight, leaving a Loop for carrying.
