@@oilersfan3977 That actually makes sense because there are no out of 10s listed or sold for Askarov but there are for everyone else. Pretty monumental screw up, the /10 are supposed to be gold coloured. They didn’t even get that right.
I bought 2 boxes. Got a clear cut YG, a Luke Hughes YG and a red outburst panarin in 1 box. And both boxes the big it’s were in the 3 packs on the top right stack
S2 pricing is so out of control already and it's not even out yet, my local shop isn't even selling any. I would love some S2 cases but the prices just scream of everyone being upset with their decision buying them.
I've picked up 4 boxes and still have yet to put a base set together. I felt 2 of the boxes were identical! Put all 4 of the same canvas cards out of 2 boxes! And what a joke w the Population count cards!

Opened 4 cases of 2023-24 S1. Had to return 180(!) base young guns for significant damage on the top and many with bad corners. Over 62% return rate. Just awful QA this year.
I’ve had decent luck then, mine were overall not bad. In fairness I don’t bother sending in the lower end YGs, but overall I still had good quality cards
@@dshockeybreaks I like to collect complete sets and while they aren't worth much for the lower end stuff when the top is shredded in 3 places (cases from the local distributor were much worse than the ones direct from UD) I prefer to have somewhat decent copies instead (I don't expect PSA 10s but I also don't expect to pull PSA 2s and 3s).
Damn son 3 cases I mean don't get me wrong that's cool af but if your gunna spend like 5000$ you might as well just get 3 hobby boxes of 2015-16 it'd probably yield a better return then 3 cases of this stuff unless you hit a 1 of 1
@@MarcusMcclsukey traded singles that I had sitting around for 2 of the 4 cases and bought the others at $1200 USD per case all in. Selling through inserts and parallels as well as some of the higher value stuff (and pulling a Bedard SP) gets you back to even at $1200 a case relatively quickly.
@@MarcusMcclsukey you’d have to hit mcdavid in the 3 boxes and even then it’d need to be in great condition to get you some of your money back and that’s after grading it. With cases and cases of the newer stuff you’re gonna hit some low numbered YGs, plus all of the main guys being pulled over and over. I’d rather pull like 4-6 each of luke Hughes and Knies and all the goalies guaranteed over all the cases than maybe one mcdavid.
Where do u go to get such solid prices. I live near Niagara Falls on the US side and all we have is Dave and Adams which is more in USD than u pay in Canadian. I would cross the border to get that price with the favorable exchange rate
i HATE when they say 1 Outburst Silver per box, I opened a hobby box, ZERO outburst silvers, I DID get an clear/ acetate base card. I don't know the odds on those
opened a box of series 2 UD 2022-23 and all my young guns were crazy mangled have had this before? I mean all the base were in good condition but had one of my young gun with a crazy angle cut, one was super mangled corner was dog eared and looked like somebody folded the middle on purpose, and my other one had creases all on it, yet all of the base were fine. so disappointing.
these boxes will be on sale for $100 cad in no time. prices of these singles are plummeting. knies have been selling for as low as $30 as of today. also, considering there's like a million++ of each base yg printed between hobby and retail, i wouldn't be opposed to a /500 yg parallel or even /999, caveat being that they don't use said parallels as an excuse to increase the overall print run of the set. i'd take a /999 yg over a base yg all day every day, and it'd be cool to be able to pull them out of retail.
Yeah I'm having a hard time in seeing the difference between this stuff and junk wax era...I collect young guns...but I usually wait for awhile for prices to go down...I got 3 boxes of 22-23 series one today for less than $40.00 usd today...and could have got hobby for 60.00 a box...I'm not going to pay top price for something that will do nothing but decrease in value in most cases...
I will be buying a case of series 2 and just sit on it for a couple of years, and re sell the boxes 1 at a time. No point in opening them on release and praying...
SERIOUSLY!!! I can't be the only one completely underwhelmed by this product? This feels like late 90's nonsense. A ton of filler inserts. Base cards might as well be stuck in spokes. No memorabilia. A couple sticker autos per case. They couldn't even get the parallels right! It's just a stamp! With a dozen variations, with no actual card variation. Oh and if you got a 1/1... that's probably a misprint of a 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000 The outburst silvers are cool at least.
Two of the three boxes you were no where near breaking even. Absolute garbage!! I will not purchase any new product from Upper Deck. It is all garbage and I would have better luck spending that money on lottery tickets. At least then I could come out with real cash. smh
Opening boxes of cards is gambling in itself where if you hit something big, you'd be able to sell it for much more than winnings on a lottery ticket but when you don't, you can still recoup some of your money whereas a losing lottery ticket gets you nothing. It's better to buy once the product has been out for a little while and prices start to drop
Well, to be fair. On average, boxes across the hobby (regardless of the company) lose 75% of value upon break. It's equally a buyer's market post the Covid hyperinflation. Add to that more ppl in the hobby due to Bedard (and the lockdown hype around card prices circa 2021), box production is way up to satisfy demand, just as it was for Lindros in the early 1990s. The entire point of cards is the box break "gaming" experience, which is a sunk cost at these box prices. So, anyone speaking about breaking even is unclear on present market fundamentals. Cards are gambling on dismal disclosed odds, per the checklists. This said, because it's a buyer's market, you can target just about any card you want at very reasonable (auction, not asking) prices on eBay with 100% certainty. Anyone who deems that boring is obviously in cards for the endorphin break rush... which explains how box sticker prices became so high in the first place relative to the stated odds.
I never buy cards when the first come out...better to wait for a few months when prices have drastically dropped...I only collect young guns from the new stuff anyway...I stick with retail when I open boxes...and most of the time I finish off my sets by buying from sellers on ebay...it's much cheaper than chasing cards...if you're into cards to get rich or even make a profit...you'll probably be disappointed...unless you do hit some insane 1/1 which has about the same odds of hitting a big lottery ticket...
