Yes more people with lots of student loans!! 100k in student loans is nothing for many health professionals. I was on full scholarships in undergrad... Grad school 😢

Same here! $200k+ because of grad school

Reason #1 why I have decided against grad school is the cost. I am a little sad about it, but I just know myself and how much this debt would affect my mental health...

@@marielinden-cox8772 I totally get it. I don't regret going because I'm grateful for my career, but I definitely didn't understand the gravity of accruing this much debt.

@@marielinden-cox8772 It's quite disheartening because I'm unsure if I'll ever manage to pay it off. However, on the bright side, I do have a higher-paying job that I enjoy more than I think I might have otherwise given the options I was looking at after undergrad.

We would call that "Personal Property Tax." It includes cars, boats, other luxury items, and trailers to move them around. It is definitely a thing here in VA 🙄

Yeah when i moved from texas to virginia i was shocked. 4.25% tax on the value of your car every year is INSANE. however, it’s a good incentive to never buy too nice of a car. always having beaters to avoid the tax might save me money in the long run lol

I live in Cali and I knew what she was talking about. For the car property tax, I watch another budget channel. That person lives in Virginia and she covers this.

CT does have car tax. Mine is ~$500 1x a year. It varies in what town you live in.

My friends went to BU and paid $45k a year. $67k actually doesn’t seem that “bad” 😅 I’m also in student loan debt so this video was really helpful.

It is insane how much tuition has ballooned 😭

Car tax is normal. Some towns do twice a year and other towns do it once a year. Both ways equal the same amount, just two payments or lump sum.

i have about $30k in student loans which makes me feel really antsy. but going to community college and graduating from university early literally saved me tens of thousands of dollars! costs of attending university nowadays are getting out of control

While I think you should've counted the monthly debt payments in the emergency fund calculation, even with that added in the emergency fund they have is way higher than it needs to be! I agree they should pay off one of their debts completely, maybe even two, if that's what they really want to prioritize.

$188k in student loans? Yikes, that’s like a mortgage...but for your brain! 💸 Seriously though, getting real about that kind of debt is huge, and tracking every dollar is key-thank goodness for easy expense trackers, right? And yeah, it might sting to dip into savings, but imagine the relief when that debt’s finally gone. It’s like giving your future self a high-five! 👏
