As an indian 150rs is also a very expensive at street shop. These guys should realise that you should charge normal price to foreigners because they are very generous and kind. they will give you the best tip. Thankyou for come to india 🇮🇳♥️🙏🏻
@@s....982 It's kinda grey area. Poor guy thinking a white tourist would be rich enough to pay 1.8 USD when he's on a trip to another country (not as far fetched). Hence he didn't charge his usual 0.83 USD. He doesn't have the money to even afford an actual shop, maybe even has a family to feed. Not a good thing but still grey area.

I live in London and I miss this haircut as being an Indian, in my school days I used to cut my hair on the roadside. Whenever I travel to India I always use these roadside hair cut barber, love it
How well behaved is little dude forest. I've had loads of experience with my own son and a few nephews and every one of them flipped and made the barber pull his own hair out. He lasted ages before losing his patience. Love this well rounded family. Jealous in a good way and strive to be similar with my own kids.

He did a pretty good job with the haircut, but asked too much their usual price is around 50-80 rupees.They make around 500 in a whole day and you gave him 500 that very generous of you. You have a beautiful family, enjoy your time in India may all gods bless you and your family🙏👍

Tuk-tuk is the name from Thailand for these three wheeled taxis. Most Indians don't use that name. In India it is called an Auto Rick-shah. That would be most recognizable name to most Indians. Or, if you prefer simpler 2 syllable names, you can call one an Auto or a Rick-shah. The 3 wheeled pedaled tricycle type, the traditional human powered one, was and is called a Rick-shah. 🙂
@@NikZ500, where? Also, the Thai people call the petrol engine rickshahs "Tuk-tuks" because of the sound the small single piston engines make. "Tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk-tuk..." So, it shouldn't apply to relatively silent electric motors. 😁

There is tragic angle too. Hair cutting is considered a "impure job". Only people from a particular caste became barber. They are untouchable caste. A person from upper caste won't eat foot in his home. The upper caste brahmin priest who conduct funeral, marriage, ritual will not eat d foo in d home a untouchables his purity will get sullied. India population 10 ℅ is upper caste, 50 ℅ are midling caste who are subsistence farmer, artisan, agricultural wage earner and finally 10 ℅ are untouchables who do works considered filthy ( cleaning sewers, death body handling, mid wives, toilet cleaners, barber, washer man, cobbler etc). Upper will marry among d caste. If a upper caste girl marries a lower caste boy, she will be disowned and in rural areas even be killed. 2 ℅ of marriage are only inter caste marriage. Plus hindu names are caste identify.... One can identify d caste by ones surname.
I would be scared too just like Forest, but he did endure through the whole process. I as a kid was terrified of haircuts and when then brought out the knife to shave and clean the edges I would start my tantrums. But Forest did an incredible job. I am so proud.
Great family you got there. You and your wife did a great job together. And to think, I get mad paying $10 for a haircut here in America. Nice to see you having real experiences in India. The shops/restaurants away from the tourist areas will often give you the best prices and will Always give you a great story to tell afterwards. Keep seeking out those experiences as you get more familiar with India, and keep talking with the locals to find them. A few basic phrases in Hindi goes a long way too. Indian's don't cheat with foreigner if they are giving you 500 it means they are showing good gesture to you...and really 150 who the hell charge for haircut...it cost maximum 40-50rs for haircut in such open area...
I grew up india, and as a kid i use to go to a similar place. That place is no longer there,. It's now upgrade to a proper shop, but the guy who cut my hair as a kid is still there. I still get my cut from him whenever i visit home.
the irony, he actually tried to scam you with the price, but you just gave him more money which in my opinion he didn't deserved it 😅 the guy in indonesia actually had the price list for everything and can be seen the whole time when you are standing there, though you didn't see it but he still gave you the honest price then you gave him 10 times more, which he very much deserved it..
Forest looks amazing with his new look 🔥 But the barber charging 150/- looked really bad. We in India say Atithi Devo Bhava” meaning “Guest is God” the tag line of campaign in India to treat tourists as God and to develop a sense of responsibility towards our guests. It hurts to find out people cheating on tourists. I appreciate you showing gratitue by giving 500/- rs to the barber. Wich he certainly doesn't deserve.
