On my 4 Runner build I went with a GOBI rack. They custom make it one piece. No rattling. That was about 2300 hundred and 4 months build time.

My dad and I put 5100s in the front and the 8000 ones with reservoirs in the rear with beefy tires fully armored only thing we need is steel bumpers and a winch and we're set

There are better made tires out there than BRIDGESTONE, why don't you look into GOODYEAR OR LES SWABE (depending where you live, in what state)

Man, at least I wasn’t the only one yelling at the screen when I saw them smashing in the quarter panels, drilling holes, and modifying the brand new rear bumper, THEN LEAVING IT ALL EXPOSED TO MOISTURE!?!?! That is so wrong, that bumper will be rusty in 6 months, nevermind what will happen to the quarter panels hiding under there getting soaked and salty etc. That poor girl, she trusted those guys. I just can’t believe out of all those guys there working NOBODY said or did anything? I wish I knew how to contact that poor girl so I could warn her. At my shop, where we do these builds, all of it, not half, if one of my employees did that they would be picking up trash on the side of the road for 2 weeks and they all know it! I have to say, I was surprised to see that shop empty and all his employees working on one quick little bolt on job too. I get nervous when a shop is that quiet and they’re able to all work on one vehicle. I know that we are at least 4 months out on those builds. I feel like every custom/off-road shop that is good at what they do is jammed with work. We have work on the property for 3 years or more and so do other shops I know of(the talented ones anyhow). The knuckleheads will take a job like that tomorrow and screw it all up and then wind up at my shop getting it fixed shortly after lol. She did pick some good stuff tho, that’s a great lift kit/suspension and C4 stuff is nice. What he said about aluminum was so far off base tho, that concerns me too. Aluminum is way better in almost all applications, lighter and stronger. Way lighter, which is good on that truck. It is going to be very noticeable how sluggish it is with all that weight added. Then she’ll add whatever gear she carries and it will be a tank. Happens every time our customers want steel bumpers and big heavy tire carriers on them. Anyway, rant over haha. Definitely looks excellent and she’s happy, that’s what really counts in the end.

Yeah with steel bumpers, sliders, armor and a rooftop tent you have to be losing a lot of your max payload not too mention gas mileage, but nobody who is going to build one out like this cares much about that.

If you build a Tacoma or 4 Runner for serious off roading, gas mileage doesn't matter. Getting rescued costs way more money then the extra fuel costs. Also damage to a poorly equipped off road vehicle, the costs of repair cover the extra money spent on fuel.

@@useryggfdcc No doubt. I guess my mindset is that I still use my 4Runner as a daily driver, so some of these builds seem ridiculous. That said, if folks actually use it to its full capability it makes sense.
