Really glad your soldering skills aren't top notch. Soldering is scary for a lot of people, so seeing that it will work even though it isn't perfect, is really encouraging!

This was a great build. All the viewers who say it's sloppy and tatty, who cares, it does the job! And all the other DIY sliders on RU-vid require top notch tools, this one, anyone can build without expensive tool kits, lathes, Mills, drills, tappers etc.. Well Done to the lad on a clever and simple design. Thank you

That's a really cool decision witch eliminates weird step motors, controllers etc. imho it's the best decision to start your time lapse experiments with. Thank you!

I find it annoying that people put up mean comment, it tells me that they are jealous that they didn't think of it first. Great design on a budget and it WORKS!! isn't that what we all want!

I use 3M double stick tape to mount a lot of things like micro switches and motors. You should try it some time and see how you like it.
@RCexperimental
@RCexperimental 11 лет назад
Haven't tried it, however I believe night TL shots generally use a more complex setup which only moves the camera between shots and remains stationary while taking a frame.

when i undrestand it right the motor stop when one of this both microswiches are pressed.. you can chanch it that one switch turns of when it gos to the left side and the other to right than you dont need to do that with the hand...

You could probably add a potentiometer so that you can control the speed, you wouldn't have as much control as you would on a professional setup, but you would still be able to control the speed.

Great project, but you can add potentiometer and change the speed of motor, that you can affect the speed of your timelapse;) Gretings from Croatia!

Ever thought of upgrading this with the motor from a hand drill? you could rewire the trigger to a dimmer, etc and have adjustable speeds...

I am almost finished with building my version of your slider. Your video is most informative. The one part I don't understand is what you glued to the coupling nut that attaches to the motor. Could you provide a bit more insight into that part? Thanks.

Hi, you are an amazing designer. Wondering if you had worked out a a "night" time-lapse set up yet, where longer exposures can be utilized? I hope you use your existing slider and motorized set up on this video with just some electronic tweeking? Super Job, Thanks!

solder /ˈsɒldə; US: ˈsɒdər/, wordreferencedotcom. That means, in case you haven´t understood, that both pronounciations are acceptable. And that´s what dictionaries are for, try them, they don´t bite.

Hi. Cool diy. I was wondering does this motorised dolly work even in vertical configuration?. If not vertical , does it work when kept at an angle ?. Was just sceptical about how much load the motor can take

if you could spend more how would you spend to make the timelapse shots more stable and smoother. as it seems a wee bit shaky based on the video.

Question-But first, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Now for the question, “How do you control the stepper to motor to pause then after a second or two fire the DSLR (or other camera) to create the photos that will become frames of the time-lapse video? I would truly like the answer to this question. Perhaps you’ve already answered it or some Elise has. Would you point me in the right direction I’ve the answer. Thanks much! WLK
