A friend of mine went to Thailand years ago. He'd been looking forward to the trip for years. He got this done, and the next day, he woke up with a horrendous ear infection. It was so painful for him that he cancelled his trip. His hearing hasn't been the same since. Do not do this guys. It is not worth it.

I got the feather ear cleaning when i was thailand (they included it in my head spa massage) last week and I've got a horrible horrible ear infection from it. Would not recommend as i doubt they are able to sanitise feathers

I did an ear cleaning in fact it was yesterday. But I went to an otolaryngologist. He did it in a clinical setting all the equipment was sanitized and it was totally painless.

He is trained. It’s called hands on training, which is the best.

i would say that the risk of getting an ear infection or injury during this is about the same as getting an injury or skin problem from a massage in the U.S. yes, it's possible, but still uncommon. people who clean ears in this fashion in places like Vietnam, Thailand and China have years of experience doing it. i would judge mostly on hygiene and experience -- best to go to salons or do research on RU-vid/online first

have had my ears cleaned in VN hundreds of times and have never got an ear infection from them. maybe it's just a matter of time before i get an infection? : ) besides 150,000vnd is a little high for the services he got. most hot toc's charge 70-90k for the three services.
