This was a great build to see in person, the guy who brought me the bike did an amazing job with the build, but no lie the brakes were one of the most impressive thing about this bike besides the crank... Those cranks are hard as hell to get moving the but the rider is still a beast on the bike....... Very impressed by the Elves frame and the bike quality, first time seeing them in person and can see why they have such a big following. The rider has been on this bike for over 3000 miles with nothing more then a broken rear spoke from riding over bad roads. quality build

Thank you for the review! Because of your review I just bought a frame in loved with it😃but different color! And the same brake caliper and carbon bottle cages! Props to the guy for not giving up due to his injury. If money was not an issue, I'd probably look into a custom frame with a much lower bottom bracket, but he REALLY spent his money wisely on this bike. Thanks for showing us this bike!

I ride with an aggressive saddle height because my injury affects my bike fit... Also the Bottom Bracket is a BB86 which is included when you purchase the frame . 👍

Great bike. I own 2 Elves. A Falath Rim Brake and an Eglath Disc, both custom painted by Elves. Terrific bikes, quality is excellent especially the paint. The Falath I've had for 3 years and the Eglath for over a year, thousands of km.,. Dealt directly with Elves, they are fantastic to work with, again custom paint, the process was fast and easy. Great company.

I think I’ve ridden beside this guy on his older bike, only recognized it by the crank arm length, I’m local and got an okish bike if you want to do a video on, it’s a foil with a 1x setup rolling on some Princeton wakes, lemme know if you’re interested I can send you the entire part list (I bought an ok amount of upgrades for my lovely bike!!)

I have the ee brakes from Aliexpress and can vouch they work great. Stopping power same as ultegra in my experience.

a bit more direct then Ultegra calipers but they work well have had them for over 3000km and they are good enough for the Colombian Andes.

Interesting bike, good thing you live in Florida. Those 100mm crank arms effect the gain ratio. Sheldon Brown's gear calculator would let you compare the gearing with 100mm cranks and others. Gain ratio 53 x 11 with 100mm cranks is 15. With 172.5 cranks the gain ratio is 9.6. Those cranks are like running an 80 front chainring.

yea I tried pedaling around the block with them and there is no levrage at all, felt like I was working my ass off but this is the only way the customer can ride, because of an accident he had, so he has to do what he has to do, he has also done a big climbing ride, with some pretty steep rides

Amazing build, I'd be a bit concerned about the corrosion on the brake calipers. I'm pretty stock the real eebrakes didn't have this problem, which probably means the material (at least for this bracing bar) is different. Might or might not be much of a concern but it's definitely something to watch long term.

5:30 It looks like these brake pads will outlast the calipers. All beside that - very nice build. I only wonder how long will it last?! This year I built FALATH 2022. Head tube isn't that perfect. Bearings have that tiny little bit too much space, causing the fork to wobble. I used 3M 2-sided tape to make it a very tight fit - that fixed the issue. Still have trouble with proper setup of front R8000 derailleur. Going big-big or small-small makes noise. I can fine tune to have either this or that. I wonder if it's not the design flaw, cause seen GCN member having the same issue with it.

Yes, it's a Chinese brand but set aside from the stereotypes about china products what ELVES differs from a typical made in china products/brands is ELVES is not a fake or a copy.. ELVES is one of china's own brands that can be proud to call their own original.

@@GCPerformance18 from my experience, DM brakes do flex less and are stronger than traditional brakes. The calipers close completely parallel to each other.

The only problem I have with the design of these EEbrakes (original as well as this copy) is that the silver set bolt on the side of the caliper just looks destined to punch a hole in your carbon frame as soon as the bar gets turned all the way to the right, for instance in a crash. Also, there's a couple of reports in forums of these brake basically disintegrating. So I guess the QC might not be super consistent, which is understandable for the price. Still, Im not sure I would save money AND weight on a set of brakes.

On the other end of the spectrum, at my co-op we had a Lennard Zinn designed 68cm KHS with 210mm cranks (they came standard on the model). I believe we still have the cranks, as someone bought the bike but requested normal length arms.

Cool bike, look at my delihea bike 7,2 kg for 1000$ on my page. I tried to build something lightweight like that. Bike on video is 0.7 kg lighter, its really cool. I like its electronic shifters, looks nice.
