Yes, I'd stay in the hostel. Years ago, I paid 20 bucks a night in some NYC hostels and believe me they did not look like this. This looks clean and doable. Not too fancy but very practical for tourists or those who need it.
That looks pretty cool. I'd give that a try. Reminded a bit of the sleeper I had on Amtrak when I went to the Grand Canyon. During the day they converted it into a seat, but it became your bed at night. Pretty comfortable.
It's certainly affordable! I'm not sure if I would feel safe in one of those capsules. I think I've seen too many horror movies about people trapped in boxes. 🤣 Thanks for showing us this and explaining everything!
I just thought you were crawling around the Jeffrey's tubes of the USS Enterprise haha just a joke I'm going to watch this video and enjoy it like all your other ones have a great day jay
Looks cool, I'd have to see what that mattress felt like though. I have trouble when I have to go into the MRI tube but this looks a lot bigger ..at least one can sit up. Q: What is the quiet like when you're inside? Can you hear others outside or those near your capsule? Q: Are you allowed to eat/drink in those? Q: Are there different size capsules...say, for 2 people? Q: Are those mirrors 1-way? Thanks Jay :)
Q1: I think you can still hear some sounds from inside but people are generally told before going in that during the night you need to be quiet for anyone that might be sleeping (also common sense but...) Q2: I don't really see why you wouldn't be or if anyone would stop you from doing it but you would have to ask someone at each hotel I guess. Q3: I don't know if each capsule hotel has them but I've defenitely seen videos of some of them having 2 person sizes so yes. Q4: Don't really see how those mirrors could be 2 way if they are up against a wall but if your capsule is pitch black you probably would be able to see through if it was 2 way.
That looks pretty cool- I would try it, but it would not be a good thing for my husband. He is seriously claustrophobic to the point where he needs sedation for an MRI.
Absolutely!! It looks a lot better than a T3 (triple bunk) night on the train, cleaner, a bit more private than a hostel-- and a real shower! I'd love those to be all around!
J, that was fascinating. Hey, it definitely is an option, especially if you are a tourist on the move and your accommodations are primarily only to snooze 😴 💤. Glenn♠️
J. Wow. Never heard of a capsule hotel. My husband telling me he saw it in the movie Bladerunner. Ok. Lockers for smaller bags or luggage. Ok. So a communal bathroom. Lounge. Washer/dryer. It’s different. Not for me pushing 60 but for the young , or physically fit non claustrophobic person at $25 a night it great. Thanks so much and see you next video.
I stayed in one in Japan years ago between flights , 20 hour lay over from Singapore to San Francisco. Layover in Tokyo International great experience slept or 15 hours !
When I was young and single, that might have been cool. Now? Nope. But I see where it could appeal to others. Thanks for sharing. It is indeed interesting.
Cool concept. Not sure it would be for me though. Would work in a pinch. Price is certainly right and it looked clean. I could see the appeal. Especially for the younger generation.
I didn't catch if you thought the bed was comfortable or if you got a good nights sleep there. I could sleep there for a night. I wouldn't want to stay in one for multiple nights though.
If you are young and traveling on the cheap, it's a great idea. It's not something I'd ever do however. It would make me think of sleeping inside a coffin.
ugh that is not me I could not stay in one of those, that reminds me of when we toured in big bus as musician, I could not sleep in those racks like the other guys did ...I do prefer hotels or nice safe motels.
if I was going overseas on a really really tight budget id maybe consider it but I think id get a bit claustrophobic to be honest I don't think I would be able to sleep in something like that but a great idea for people who are back packing around the country. but no not really something I think I could stay in.
these do not appear Fluffy friendly at all, so it would be a no for me now. However, I will strongly recommend this to my sons who will be travelling through that way soon. Clean and inexpensive is right up their alley.
That’s really neat! Huge fan of RGB lighting for ambiance. Gave me mild anxiety watching tho…my “what if” mind starts going crazy. Lol. Thanks for sharing this with us, it’s super cool and a bargain for $25!
That capsule hotel reminds me of a sensory deprivation tank. I have experienced a sensory deprivation tank for an hour at a time. I don't think that I could sleep in an enclosed "box" for a night. Nope, can't do it!
Never stayed in a hostel, but had a thought. This could be an excellent option for traveler variables like arriving too early, or layover lodging. Free laundry, shower and storage are well worth the $25 alone. I just wondered about soundproofing issues, odor proofing (what if someone lights up a fatty?), stability. Does someone else's movement rock other units? Otherwise it looks great. Thanks for the review!
Although hostels aren’t really my thing, I’d stay there. I prefer having my own bathroom. I stayed in the Yotel inside Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. That’s THE smallest room I’ve ever been in. It wasn’t one inexpensive because it was in the airport, but it was very clean and comfortable (in Terminal 2E).
