Welcome to Abu dhabi man. Really refreshing to see a video like this of the actual lifestyle not the flamboyant ones shown. I have lived in AD my whole life and can say this is refreshingly accurate but you can survive on much much cheaper!

I've lived in Abu Dhabi for 10 years and recently moved back to Australia. Seeing your experience through the city really sparked some memories. From what I have seen, you went through Hamdan street, where they have an amazing hole in the wall selling huge afghani breads for 1-5 aed, a great place if you are looking for what I would consider authentic Abu Dhabi food (Its called Ariyana Bakery) . Another goldmine for anyone visiting Abu Dhabi and is looking for cheap food is Spinneys and Carrefour. Spinneys sells biryani, butter chicken, etc. 30aed for 1kg of Biryani approx. Carrefour in Yas mall has great shawarmas for 10 aed. Spinneys and Carrefour sound a little more pricey but you get lots for what you pay and for reference, 10aed is nothing in the UAE. Another thing to mention is if you do plan on buying perfumes or other gifts, prices in places like Madinat Zayed are far better than what you'd pay in a mall. Lastly, there are many scammers around these parts of town, you need to be incredibly careful when paying for things, taxi drivers often drive the long routes just to make that extra few dirhams. A way to get around that is to just say to go through the corniche (Assuming your in the downtown area). Abu Dhabi is an amazing city and Im glad people go explore it like you have!

So basically, the "dal cookie" you ate is actually known as parippvada which is actually a south indian dish from Kerala.

Bro go to Bahrain and I can assure you that for 25 GBP you could eat comfortably and sustainably for at least 3 days. Any local will tell you where to go. Plus, the majority of the food you're eating is Indian/non-local - you will definitely be able to get a taste of local Arab cuisine in Bahrain. You could potentially find the same in AD, but you'll notice that locals mix more with expats - leading to a very open culture and a massive range of food options. Its only a 45 min flight from AD.
