This watch would have been perfect with an anonymous/sterile dial. I have a Baltany S244009U-424 44mm California Dial ”Kalifornia '44” the well executed sandwich anonymous dial just won me over.

It's a fun watch at a reasonable price. I really like mine. I have a larger wrist and changed out the strap for a longer one and I've been wearing it nonstop for about a week.

This version is based on a limited edition all platinum VC. I guess the salmon could be the way to go, as that is not trying to fool anyone. VC never made one with a salmon dial.

This style was designed as a drivers watch, so you can see the time without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

@@TopTierTickerother people have said this but I've never seen a racing driver wearing a watch like that and how I hold the steering wheel it works better worn normally.

The VC 1921 also has a non-hacking movement. Also if you look this Baltany is not an exact copy, there are some small differences to VC besides the price

Doesn’t look the same without the small seconds subdial…I like your version better. I saw another variation that had radial grooves on the main dial too. Very sharp!

Had a conversation with Roland Murphy from RGM. He said this style came from adapting pocket watches to wrist watches, before being considered a driving watch. That's the origin.

Potentially... But the places this got marked down likely transfer to the other model too. I appreciate the dial and details... but the movement, strap and originality lose it points... Fantastic watch though!

I have this with the salmon dial. I'm not trying to fool anyone into thinking it's something it's not. BUT. VC's 1921 is my all time fave watch and it is cool beyond measure. No way I'm spending that kind of coin on a watch though. This one gives me the vibe for a bit of fun and on wrist has a sense of quality that is crazy for the price. Not a daily wear so the movement really doesn't matter.

Very nice looking dial,I’d buy it just for the applied Breguet numerals. Not a fan of the Seagull movement because of the serviceability down the road. The Miyota movement is great but you lose the small seconds so I would have to pass on this watch even though I love the look of it. Thanks for the review

Yeah, I'm in the same boat... Great looking watch, movement is a bit of a dinosaur. I'm tempted to get the 9000 one and test it out!

Baltany actually looks better than the vacheron which just has a printed dial as far as I can tell. The Baltany case looks way too big. Back in the day guys even wore watches under 30 mm no problem. Agree that without the small seconds the watch loses its charm.

I was rather impressed that the sub seconds dial features a concentric circular pattern inside. It's almost invisible with the naked eye but shows up great with the macro lens!

The current Vacheron is 40mm although they do a 36 too, I think Baltany did the right thing splitting the difference.

Just wear your affordable G-Shock with pride no need for anything else...All other (expensive) watches are just ego compensators.....Time day date year solar tough style...What else you need?
