I just bought 8 of those Japanese sweet potatoes from whole foods!! I boil them all and make a HUGE bowl of mashed potatoes + cinnamon and just sit on the couch with my huge potato bowl and watch TV! XD

Literally all I buy at whole foods are Japanese sweet potatoes. The best thing ever is when the cashier messes up and rings them up for regular conventional 99 cent/lbs sweet potatoes ;p But its also really concerning because my whole foods doesn't even sell regular conventional sweet potatoes....

Have you tried looking for Asian stores for the sweet potatoes 🍠?? Like Korean market ? That's where my mom get those. You should also try the purple ones as well

Does anyone else find it strange that produce is sold like individually in the states? For example, you said that each bunch of beats is 3 dollars, so obviously you look for the big ones. But here in Portugal all the produce is sold by weight. Even the pre-packages stuff, if they have a fixed price they will all have the same weight and if the packages items have different weights they will be priced accordingly.

we go by weight too. for example one day bell peppers might be .89¢ each or another day they might be $2.39 a lb.

Japanese sweet potatoes are super easy to find in asian grocery stores. Also, I would recommend trying Okinawa sweet potatoes so much sweeter

Those potatoes are called "Camotes" here in México hehehe. $30 it's a lot of money, this makes me realize how expensive is to live in USA, for that amount of money you could have twice what you've got in Whole Foods! But i have to say that i loooooove your videos

We call sweet potatoes '' Kumara '' in New Zealand. Amazing roasted with herbs and garlic. Even in Brownies ( minus for herbs and garlic )

I love Whole Foods for produce! Everything is organic and they have a lot of local stuff. I typically come out spending the same or less than I would at another store, especially now I have the Whole Foods app! They always have a digital coupon for produce.

Also you can make tempeh from scratch!! And use any bean and/or grain you want! Its full of probiotics and b vitamins

Omg I found someone that is as addicted to japanese sweet potatos as me! I live off of them, roasting them and eating them cold is my fav. They started carrying the murasaki sweet potatoes at trader joes :)

Kimmie Nicole As others have mentioned, I find purple sweet potatoes (Korean, Japanese,...) in oriental markets. In Maryland try places like HMart.

There's one 15 minutes from me & they do sell them there 😊 Edit: I went to H Mart today & found Korean sweet potatoes & bought a bunch, thinking that they were the same thing, but they look smaller than Japanese sweet potatoes. I only saw the Korean variety, regular sweet potatoes & purple yams there 😣

Here it is exactly the opposite: Japanese sweet potatoes are the only ones I get in my province (Buenos Aires), they're everywhere. And to get the ''original'' sweet potatoes (the orange ones) you have to go to another province. I'm really missing them:(

Here in Indonesia(tempeh originally from Indonesia) Tempe is not fake meat, we eat Tempe almost every day As a comfort food with sambal (chili sauce) and rice. So don't worry to eat it to much, it's very good for you! Love you Caitlin!!

Try the Stokes purple sweet potatoes at WF! They are finally back in season. They beat even the Japanese variety.

You can get Japanese sweet potatoes from a lot of Asian markets. Sadly there isn't H Mart (basically the Whole Foods of Asian markets) in Florida but there are still local Asian markets.

You can try H-Mart if there's one close to you. It's an Asian grocery store but they have all those fresh herbs & produces that u can't get at ur regular grocery store.

Check Asian grocery stores for Japanese sweet potatoes!! I've found them at all of the Asian stores near me, and they're usually cheaper than at WF :)

I live in Ohio and can get Japanese sweet potatoes at Kroger (parent company to Fred Meyer and King Soopers) but they don't always have them! I'm definitely going to have to try one with almond butter, YUM!

If you haven’t tried it yet, you should try roasting sweet potatoes with Caribbean Jerk seasoning... it gives them an amazing “sweet heat” flavor!

I love the flavor of them so much that honestly I tend to just eat them plain haha....I don't want to mask it with anything else! I either chop them up into fries and roast them, or I roast the whole potato so it's a lot softer. I rarely dip them in anything, but if I do I add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a tahini and maple syrup sauce!

You can find Japanese Sweet Potatoes at Asian Markets if they're around where youl live but most of them are not Organic i think. And yes, they're sweet , creamy and full of aromas :)

Also, look for mesh produce bags on amazon! I got them for like $10 bucks for like 10 or 12 of them. Super great to use! And come in all different sizes.

i had the same problem with those sweet potatoes! they're my fav, but i could only find them at WF and they are 2.50/lb, so i almost never get them. i stopped at the one local asian market in town the other day and they have japanese sweet potatoes too for soooo much cheaper!

Sometimes trader joes sells bags of the Japanese sweet potatoes... I think it's in the fall.. at least in my store in Maryland they do :)

Hey you can find japanese sweet potatoes at any asian market( exactly korean market like h-mart if you can find any aroud your place, i don't know why you call it japanese potato cuz it is regular potato in my country haha)

I read online somewhere that you can bring mason jars to the bulk bins and they will discount you 10 cents for bringing your own container. Not sure how they would tare the weight of the jar though... and the whole foods app usually has $5 off $15 or $20 of produce :)

ive been waiting for it to be fall for those japanese sweet potatoes :D they're so bomb, and i agree they're hard to find. Once we had them near us at this hispanic market but then they ran out :( but now that i can drive im going to get some >:D and i think target sells some of those reusable bags, ive been wanting some too bc i don't like all that plastic waste.

You don't need to feel so guilty using those green bags, they are biodegradable. Reusable bags are definitely better though :D I worked at whole foods for three years and you can definitely save money on certain items. 365 (whole foods) brand is the way to go for household basics such as beans, condiments, soaps etc.. you buy speciality products anywhere and it's going to be expensive.

eskimoe25 I can tell you as a college student living on an island that store brand saves your life. and tbh for the exception of pasta sauce/dish soap and meat(if you eat it) I buy everything store brand. right down to my almond milk and cage free organic eggs
