This is a GENIUS concept! I think upcycling some flannel (both lightweight & the thicker ones too!) shirts as curtains with a wire curtain rod system to cover the windows in the canopy would A) make for great "bedside storage"* & B) could be used to keep in heat/keep out light etc. *You could potentially hang lightweight stuff on the wire, or use it as a drying space by opening the canopy windows. The pockets of the flannel shirts could hold your phone/power banks/toiletries etc.
@@pakristofzski Thanks for watching! We’re super excited for all of the adventures to come with this setup! Thank you for the suggestions with the flannel curtains. That’s a genius idea and we will definitely have to look into it.
A good idea for a drawer handle is just a piece of rope. Drill 2 holes in the wood drawer face and insert a small length of rope and tie it to itself inside the draw. The rope is flexible and so when you close the tailgate, it will not be in the way.
The simplicity is great. I prefer having my fixed bed on the passenger side. When carrying taller items in the removable area, my right-rear view isn't obstructed while driving.

That is a great design Skyler and Nicole!! I’m sure that will be really nice when you decide to stop and camp out, and it is midnight!😂 keep bringing the awesome videos. 😀
Hell ya, that's sweet. I'm 15, and I'm just about to buy my first truck. I've been saving up for like 2 years so thanks for the idea you guys are so motivating.
Nice simple build. I like that you can sleep 1 OR 2 people with your design. I’ll be using some of your ideas for my own truck bed. Thanks for making the video and sharing! You two make a great team :)
looks great, I love building fun projects like that, as far as a handle goes, just drill 2 holes about 6 inches apart, get some rope, stick one end through one hole and tie a knot, then stick the other end through the other hole and tie a knot. easy cheap handle and works great
Thanks for watching! Happy to hear that you liked the video. We had a lot of fun doing this project and can’t wait for it to be our base camp on many adventures! Thanks for the handle suggestion, that’s a great idea.
Great Setup, looking for ideas to do similar with my 2500. I had a similar idea for the two sided but so I have extra room if traveling alone. For a handle I think I would cut a small oval in the center of the face plate, router it so its rounded and sand. Nothing sticking out and it should be small enough that nothing will fall through.
Good job on the camper. My suggestion would be to get a 270 awning. I think it would look great on your camper and they function well and easy to set up.
Love the build out. Thanks for giving us all some ideas. Funny, while @ Home Depot, "checking boards for straightness." Make sure not to buy any alternative lifestyle lumber.
I have some trifold cushions that are 25" x 75" - my plan is to have the plywood bed support fold front to rear with hinges so the rear most piece can fold back over the front piece then the tri fold cushions can be used as a "sofa" during the day.
Looks really good you could cut out a handle on the drawer for your fingers to grab save money there. For your bikes I would look into a bike rack that goes in your truck reciever (for towing) then that would give you more room for coolers ect. Great build good job
I'm getting ready to build a little bed like that for my pickup truck mine's obviously going to be a little bit different because I have a five and a half foot bed and I'm almost 6 ft tall so I'm going to have to sleep diagonally anyway I subscribe I want to see your guys Adventures this looks like a good little journey you're on
Thanks for watching! you'll be surprised how comfortable it is to sleep on an angle. Our biggest advice is to make sure you park in a level spot and slightly uphill haha we use the levels on our phones while parking!
I’m glad you asked! It’s been working GREAT but there are a few updates and changes that we are actually going to make this month. Keep your eyes peeled for a video featuring all of the changes and updates very soon
@@SkynicHunting hoping to finally start my build before this summer. I'm thinking similar to yours, but the tops be slats, with one side "retracting" in to the other.
@SkynicHunting update.... topper came in and installed... too wet and rainy for the platform build but picked up the lumber .. sewed blackout curtains I cut to size from Walmart eclipse black out curtains ... velcro sewed on to attach to carpet lined topper... amazing results...note... sourced non adhesive backed sew on velcro from uline...$35 delivered hook side only 75 feet..... 2 sets of black out curtains... fully black... each panel 37" x 84" ....2 sets gave me 4 panels ( $15 a set) a lil tedious...but worth it.
Does your free floating support on the passenger side of the truck bed stay in place without falling with just the pressure of the plywood on top while driving?
